I finally got up for about 150etres in both directions thanks to a great teacher (Jimmy at Windswell - Port Douglas)
Jimmy showed me how to sheet out when diving the kite from 11:30 to 1 and this lifts you out of the water. Then once up you start to sheet in to get the forward momentum.
This bar technique takes away the fear of face planting over the board because it is in two distinct steps.
First you get lifted then once up you get the drive from sheeting in - it felt like I had so much more control.
Previously I just dived the kite and hoped I had got the power right - it felt really hit and miss and unsafe -I was always scared to faceplant.

Congratulations! You must be so stoked. Well done.
Windswell should be called KiteSense, cause they know how to teach. They're pretty good.
