Hi I have just starting taking lessons and hope to be out on the water soon. I will mainly be kitesurfing in Botany Bay to start with and was wondering whether to get a wetsuit. Then it's a case of whether I go short or long and what mm to go for. I'm heading up the coast to Nossa over the Xmas break so will check out the surf outlets on the way. My assumption is that it's weather dependant & personal preference but don't want to get anything too restrictive in thickness

Cheers

a decent 3/2 steamer will be toasty in winter.
thicker than that is just overkill.
also don't buy a super expensive one for kiting in, my ebomb pro has stretched around the ankles from filling up with water. biggest pita while kiting...
cheaper ones drain better.

use the bodyboard fin saver velcro straps around your ankles, stops water shhoting up your legs.

Thanks guys. So a long suit seems to be your preference then as opposed to a shorty. Is your's also a 3/2 Chris??

Yep its a 3/2, just to give you an idea if it's toastiness - I survived 2 winter seasons on the Vicco coast surfing in it and it was sweet as!

You can pick up mystics pretty cheap from overseas and they have ankle straps to stop water going up your legs. They about half the price of local.
