Howdy all,

Firstly, thanks to all you guys with a wealth of experience sharing your tips and tricks to us newbies getting into the sport - it's invaluable and I only hope that sooner or later I get good enough to be able to to do the same...

Any way, its my second summer of kiting and I'm absolutely loving it!!! I'm heading up to Byron this weekend and will be packing all the kite gear with me. I'm after some advice on where a newbie like me can get some practice while I'm there. I'm usually out around Brighton and Dolls in Sydney and i am just getting the hang of going upwind, but still working on coming back in smoothly with my "bad foot" forward. (still doing the walk of shame). This being the case, I'd prefer somewhere where I won't take out any stoned innocent bystanders and where it is as flat as possible.

I'm stopping at Old Bar on the way up as I have heard that it is supposed to be a kiting hot spot.

Any advice would be great - on any of the above :)

Cheers

Thanks KIT33R,

That gives me a starting place. Hopefully I'll get some local feedback along the way to get me somewhere a little more specific for my level of experience.

Thanks again for your help.

I saw some guys kiting in the Ballina river, well off up one of the inlets actually looked good for both kiting and for sailboarding.
