Hey guys, looking at buying a second kite for winter.
I currently have a 12m and weigh 70kg.

What size do you think I should buy next?

Cheers, Jukesy

I'm 75kg and I have a 10.5m single quiver. I'm gonna be selling this kite soon and will be buying an 8m and 11m Naish Pivot. I'd normally get an 8m and a 12 but the pivot has a huge low end.

You really gotta read about the kite you are going to buy. I've seen some 8m kitebrands that have similar power other 10m kites...

The age old quiver question.......

There's 2 common trends. 3m gaps.

12,9,6

or 2m gaps.

12,10,8,6

2m is best. 3m is workable. 4m.... yourl have a point in the between thats too powered/underpowered depeneding on what kite you choose.

So........

choose your end game. 3m gaps or 2.

If 2 then buy an 8 first then, 10 then 6.

if 3m buy the 9m then 6m.

Side note. 4m gaps work fine above 12m size. 12m - 17m

Auxiliary addendum. A decadent 4 kite quiver cost more initially. But kite wear is spread over more kites,,, So they last longer, the net result the same spend over time. ....

That's solid gold advice from Plummet above.

Comes down to budget. If you go down the 2m route, you'd be advised to pick a line of kites that work on the same bar, so you don't have to have a separate bar for each kite.

Note also winter kiting, especially in Vic means gusty wind with a big wind speed volatility (go out in 20knots, it can surge to 35knots then back down). I personally found Rebel kites don't handle gusts very well and if they accelerate over one's head, they then drop out of the sky.I personally found the North Dice a great and forgiving kite for these sort of wind ranges...

Oh and I'm selling a Dice if you're interested ;-)
