Hey guys, not alot of kitesurfers in my area so i am going to ask here since i dont know where to turn :)

Shortly:

175 cm
68 kg (149 lbs)
beginner (waterstarting sessions)
my "style" - freeride, wakestyle (i hope :D)

Equipement:

switchblade 12 (2010)
fanatic skyrider 41 (141x37)

Conditions:

75% 8-21 knots
25% 25+ knots

As a beginner, i dont know if kite is pulling me 2 much. The other day i was water relaunching on about 11-19 knots. I depowered kite all the way, at the time it "sits" on the water and getting that relaunch shape and angle, it was pulling me (not tons of pulls but not comfortable either). Is that normal lol? Seriously i watched terabytes of videos, talked to a couple of people, just wondering is it normal. Bar is right tuned, tried both settings (lighter and light).Kite is awesome, stable, little lazy on turning and awesome grunt. Realunch so easy on this, i really thought it would be harder. But as a beginner i dont have right to judge what is good grunt and what is stable ofc :D So anyways, 2 big kite for me or depowered pull while kite resting at water is normal?Btw i learned alot on this forum, keep it up, greetings from Croatia!
Noob warning: all u beginners out there, i was in the field with kite resting at 12 oclock, at 1 point it pulled me 4-5 meters in the air. 1st IT WAS FREAKIN AWESOME :D :D :D. 2nd keep the kite low (9am or 3pm). Seriously i thought it could never happen to me but dont get fooled (wind was about 10, really light, probably a gust). I know i am not Einstein but i got lucky on the landing. Very friendly warning, it can happen very easy!!!

Yup. Try and get your hands on a smaller kite. I'm 20kg heavier than you and at 25knots I'm on a 9m.

For a start you need 3+ kites to cover 8-25+ range. There is no one kite to cover that range.

Keep the 12m. Buy a 10m and an 8m....
or buy an 8m and then 10m later one when you can afford.

You board seems a bit narrow. 141x37..... Maybe a wider shorter board 135x42 ish will be better.

Now for the right amount of power. Launch the kite and set it at the edge of the window 10ft off the deck. You should be able to easily hold the power of the kite with the bar all the way out. Pull the bar all the way in and you start to skid on your feet. That is perfectly powered for a TT.

If your skidding with the bar out. you are too powered. use a smaller kite. If you pull the bar all the way in and feel very little pull from the kite you are under powered use a bigger kite.

Thx alot, was planning to get rebel/evo 8 or 9 but this is my 1st learning kite, got it cheap and in great condition (was planning to learn in 12-16 knots with 12 SB, just didn't get conditions right) so ill crash this 1 and learn how to take care of my future kites. Thx for this "10 feet edge window" explanation, on the ground i can keep it depowered, its just in the water is pulling me alot but that probably is normal. My future wishes are 10 and 7 but we will see, if this winter gives enough wind, i hope next summer at least 10. Good thing you peoplez are getting warmer down under :D Warm and windy i hope :D

Btw this got me alot things clear and i think it will help all the beginners with size wondering questions. Awesome!

Just wanted to ask will Evo 10m be smart choice for my weight-height for winds from 12 to 20-21 knots? I dont plan to go (or invest in smaller kite) 21+ knots till i get upwind and secured handling and i don't plan to go under 11-12. And big "+" if this is true, Evo has 13-31 windrange lol so maybe no need for high aspect kite, wind here is about 12-13 to 21-22 or 15-30 knots. (ofc when is windy)
I presume as i am lighter, i can maybe get 1-2 knots on low end when i get the hang of it.Thx in advance guys n gals
