Hi lads,

Currently in NSW I wanted to kite at maroubra beach, but forum says i'm supposed to get membership to nswba.
Thing is i do not intend to stay one full year in sydney so i need to know which membership to which association i need to suscribe so i'll be able to kite wherever i'am and avoid any kind of trouble with lifeguards all around australia...

Any ideas ?

Cheers,

Sam

Hi SamInOZ,

NSWKBA membership - falls under the AKSA umbrella.

if you join NSWKBA , your membership is valid all over Australia, and any beach that requires insurance such as provided by NSWKBA should be okay with your NSWKBA membership. If not contact us at the NSWKBA and we will contact them.

See our info page

http://www.nswkba.com.au/membership

BENEFITS OF NSWKBA MEMBERSHIP:
Australia-wide $10M public liability insurance policy
AKSA Membership card and harness tag to identify membership and insurance coverage, required by Councils to kite at several Australian beaches
Access to state and national competitions (all NSWKBA and AKSA events require all individuals entering to hold AKSA-sanctioned insurance coverage)

Regular newsletters detailing local events and safety alerts

A point of contact for any inquiries by local council etc

Up to date information on www.nswkba.com.au including Local Kite Spots, Competition and Event info, where to get lessons etc.

Kite Buddies system to put you in touch with other kiters, so you don't have to learn/kite on your own

Several discount cards, including Rebel Sport and Hertz

Political and lobbying representation of the sport at State, National and International levels

Why is this only available to water based kiters.

Are landkiters from another planet what gives.

^Because they are different sports. It would be like paying rugby league fees and expecting to be covered by insurance while playing AFL.

Yes that is the only option

So if you wish to compete in any landbased events they would have to be the ones to join.
