if you live in WA you would have a different kite size to a girl your size/mass living in SE QLD

I'm in St Kilda, winds tend to be anywhere between 10 and 30 knots generally. I'll also hope to get to a few other locations around the bay and possibly vic coast.

A 9m would probably be good for you given your light weight, which you could probably compliment with a 6/7m for stronger days

I have just received some different advice from different people so just thought i'd put it out there to see what the general consensus was.

A 9m sounds about right, but I believe Speck asked about board size guys?? The reference to kites was about brands.

My guess would be a 132-135 would be in the range for a board, but I am a fair bit heavier so no direct experience - hopefully other girls will see this and be able to advise what they ride. You gals all seem to be about the same weight

Regarding kite brands - now there is a can of worms, there are sooo many.... but generally what suits guys also suits girls, just matching size to wind/weight is what makes a difference (and colour of course ). Most leading brands entry level kites will suit you, but take a look at what brands/kites people are riding in your area. If you want an opinion on a specific kite post it up here we will tell you pretty quickly if it is good for you or not.

IMO you should look for a female specific board or a freeride board, at 55kg boards like the Thorn will be too stiff for all round comfort, riding chop and being a little bit more forgiving. You may find the foot straps a little large.

lots of boards out there.
You could even go for a cheap 134-137 long (40-42 wide) board to learn on then, as you progress you can keep that as a light wind board and then look for a board suited to your size....
