Hi, have seen on ebay wakeboards in the kiteboard section. Can you use a wakeboard as a kiteboard or are they different charactoristics?

Sure you can, you can also use a Mc Donalds lunch tray, but their not as good as a proper kite board.
Wake boards have too much rocker and usually shorter and wider. They are very hard to go upwind with and they sail like your dragging a bucket behind you.
Wake boards designed for the cable parks are closer, but if your primarily going to kite, get a wakestyle kiteboard and use that at the park.

I know people who've wakeboarded using an esky lid also! Not much in the way of tricks though.

I don't think you'd have too much luck... Too much rocker...

On the other hand, I have used my 2013 Cabrinha Custom behind a boat and it works pretty well. It's a wakestyle board that can handle boots, and it's a pretty awesome kiteboard... Forget it in light wind though.

I have tried to use a wakeboard before, they really don't work the same way, its harder to edge upwind, and the load and pop is terrible, so your jumps will be poor. Wakeboards are designed to go with the power as they are pulled behind the boat, so they will not edge well against the power and go upwind. I wouldn't recommend kiting with a wakeboard at all.

I did a fair bit of skiing and wake boarding behind boats they certainly have different builds w

Wakeboards: I found much heavier ( unless mine was **** lol), generally 2 fins, huge rocker, and more concaves. You generally ride the board flat then edge to turn

I don't have a wakestyle kiteboard but correct me if I'm wrong people:

Generally lighter, 4 fins, a decent rocker but not huge, concave generally one but I have seen some interesting boards tho, kiteboards edge and cuts through the water

Not too much to go on buy hope it's helpful
