i use compress air to remove all sand ect then same as below lots of use little wear

Silicone spray works a treat. Rinse and dry the pulleys every several sessions and give them a tiny little spray. Also use it to lube the shaft and barrel of your pump. It doesn't attract dust or gunk and keeps things nice and slippery.
I reckon I'm a third of the way through the can that I bought two seasons ago, and I've not had to replace a pulley or pump in that time. About $12 per can.
