Rider: Weight 78kg
Level (intermediate/advanced)
Style: Freeriding/Freestyle
Wind 15-30knots

Currently ride a 11m slingshot octane and looking to upgrade to a brand new kite. Iv been looking at the north Dice/Vegas, ozone c4/cat slingshot fuel, airrush lithium/varial and naish ride 2013/2014 kites. Too much of a massive range to choose one.

I want to start unhooking/looping but still want that massive boost and hangtime and a great free ride kite. I want a durable kite that can take a beating where I won't be replacing parts all the time like p-lines, chicken loop ropes and pulleys as what's happened with the octane.

I'm Bit lost with where to go?

What would you reccomend?

Vegas 2013 11m?

My 2c - Someone with you're skill level should be able to demo as many kites as possible and choose the one that best suits you. As far as build quality and resale value, plus all the criteria that you are looking for in a kite, you can't go past the Cabrinha Switchblade IMO which I note is not on you're list.
I have owned switchies for the last 3 years and have given them all a hammering. The only thing I have ever had to replace is a valve cap which fell off.

Good luck!

Switchblades u reckon? Havnt had a good look at them yet. Yeah iv got a 9m crossbow and that's alrite, not the best. Mates got a vector and that's pretty average.

R switchblades good for unhooking/looping and boosting hard?

Another brand worth considering would be something from the Wainman range. I just updated my kites from an ozone c4 10m and a slingshot fuel 13m to a 9m Wainman smoke and a 12m Boss. If you?re interested in boosting/looping, unhooking and free ride, these kites would definitely be worth considering.
I was super happy with my ozone c4 but got a chance to demo one of my mates Wainmans which I immediately fell in love with. They are super stable, grunty and after only a short time riding them they felt very familiar. The bar was something that also impressed me. It has a very easy to operate above bar depower (even when the kite is powered), push away safety system and it?s very comfortable and practical.
Anyways there is another option. Lol.

I havent had any boosting sessions on the 9m but the 12m boosts great.

If you're looking for a kite with all of those characteristics then the Switchblade would be a good option. It has great boost/float, superb unhooked characteristics, and loops well. The other option of course is to go for something like hybrid C. The C4 and the Cabrinha Chaos are both great kites and have all of the things you're looking for. In comparison to the Switchblade or something that's more of a classic SLE (i.e Wainman) the C4/Chaos will loop smoother and more powerfully (and catch you after the loop), unhook without the need to trim the kite as much, in addition to giving more slack after the pop, and will also freeride quite well because they depower they have. I've ridden the C4, Chaos, and Switchy extensively and spend most of my sessions unhooked and doing passes and all of these kites work great. The Switchy doesn't slack like the C4 or Chaos but still works well! Just a matter of what you want to focus most on. Feel free to call us if you have any more questions (02) 9529 6894.

Cheers,
Elliot
