Experienced kites can solo launch in a variety of conditions. After lessons begineers need to practice solo launch in light wind conditions . Then work up to higher wind conditions with experience.

Most days that have good wind will have other kiters around to help. And in my experience everyone is very friendly and happy to help launch and land.

And, with a little practice self launching and landing is fairly straight forward.

And, you'll see the same crew at the beach each day so before you know it you got a bunch of kite budies

Be prepared to lose all your old friends because they'll soon get sick of you raving on about kiting. But don't dispare, you'll make a whole lot of new ones.

Most brand's model's from 2012\13 onwards are super easy to relaunch. Just avoid 'c' kites or kite's without bridles for now. The more "delta" on the wing tip of the kite, usually, the better it relaunches. I fly the OR prodigy's and these kites do everything great including speedy relaunch which is handy when u've fallen off and dropped kite in front of the wave you were just riding. Ton's of good gear in the classified's here, just search criteria your oldest year model and the size you're after and go for it.
