wanna do a downwinder. whats the best way to go about it for a first timer?

Unsure of your intended destination but do some research yourself or ask some of the locals that have done it,
Our downwinders heading south have heaps of reef hazards ( best spots)and wind shadow at 2 spots,
Head south and it's all beach breaks with no wind shadows, so the latter is a lot more friendly dwinder
I take the bike for a run to check some potential dwinders or new spots

Downwinders are sooooo 2010..

Try the offshorer... When it's blowing offshore set up and kite out and see how far you can get powered up.

Then wait for wind to swing to onshore and kite back in.
That will test your skills

Pick a spot that has mostly beach. Get dropped off and have the driver follow you down as best they can.
