Hey guys, so i have been actually kiting on water for probably 2 weeks now and today i got my hooked in raileys dialed in. But im having problems jumping. often when jumping on my none prefered side id jump and try to redirect the kite but if i was to crash or even in the air i find the kite tends to fly behind my head. Any pointers? im assuming its just my technique..

cheers

Sounds like your sending the kite too far back, redirecting it too late, and going too slowly.

Just go really fast, send the kite to 12, and then pull the bar in all the way.

By the way a hooked in railey is called a gayley. Nothing to advertise.

Keep your edge as well, a lot of people who try to jump on their none prefered side while sending their kite bear down a little bit which causes you to feel like you are uncontrollably skating downwind. If you keep that edge you will go higher and feel in control. Also redirect your kite in the air before you feel like it flies over your head.
