hey all, new here so just thought id say hi. Used to surf before and after work back in Margaret River and since theres no surf here, would love to get into kiting. Just wondering if there are any people in the Cairns area who are just starting out kitesurfing. I have just been given a 2008 Cabrinha Switchblade 12m and board. Im looking for someone to learn with to try make things a bit easier. Very keen so drop us a line if your interested. Luke.

The best way to get going is to get some professional lessons. It's the safest way to learn and you will progress much more quickly.
Check out these guys for lessons near Cairns.

I understand that people want to save dollars and not get lessons. If you don't have a mate experienced who is willing to help, lessons are a must. You will look back and be thankful that you spent the money. You will find that kiting leaves suring for dead and will see that it's money well spent. Now is the time to start up north, the winds are fantastic.

I hope you know what you are doing with the kite without even a first lesson. Do you know the wind window? Do you know the safety features of your kite? New? Second hand? Really get a lesson at least to understand kite basics before even considering buying, even with a trainer kite. Some so called trainers are just about as big as the real thing. Be careful dude

Yeah I've got the wind window sorted, trainer is going really well, has definately helped. I'm not about to even consider launching the kite without getting some lessons first. I have really enjoyed using the trainer though, has been a lot of fun!!!

Once I get a few lessons under my belt, I'm going to get the guys to show me all the ins and outs of my kite. I certainly don't plan on just going down and learning by doing. I'm not that ****in stupid.
