After a transition or waterstart is it better to kiteloop or downloop to get you going?

Only in really light wind when you don't generate power on the upstroke. Looping takes the kite into the powerzone and you down wind. You can't go upwind when looping.

My upstrokes usually dont generate much pull unless I send it hard back to 12 or 11:30.

Would I kiteloop or downloop as the kite would be at the edge of wind window.

Then your kite is too small. Go out in more wind or get a bigger kite.

agree with plummet, also let the bar out when the kite is going back to 12.

The only time I need to downlooop my waterstarts is in below 10 knots and downloop transitions below 15 knots. If you are trying to kite in those winds on a twin tip, as Plummet said: you need a big kite and preferably a big board as well.

Technique and timing is also important. Your kite may also be too slow for some reason which could explain the problem. Check your lines for correct tuning to make sure your kite isn't stalling.

Kite is fine.

There is a wind shadow near the beach.

So is the best practise to kiteloop or downloop?
