Hey guys

I am looking at buying a board tomorrow and the crazyfly shoxz custom 136 I was looking at is out of stock and my instructor is telling me the 133 will be ok as its the width that is more important and it's 41 wide. I have extensive surf and wake background and am wondering if this sounds right to you? I way 80kg at my Heaviest. I have also contemplated buying a raptor pro or pro Ltd but I don't know If they have too much rocker to go upwind easily for a beginner.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated

Tosh

who is your instructor

i would say this sounds wrong.

maybe he can see something we cant.

when you say your 80kgs are you really 60?

best thing to do is to check the manufacturers specifications and there size charts. via there website.

www.crazyflykites.com/ ........ what a strange board. shame theres no definiative size chart. your instructor may be right.... but if i was you i would still get the 136 you know from your wakeboarding background that the 133 size boards are often for the kids/ladys

Out of the CF line up I rated the pro ltd when I demoed them all. With ur background I wouldnt worry much about getting a board suited more to a beginner either, regardless of size. A 133 will do the job on either shox or the pros, but id say the 136 will last u a couple of seasons before u work out where ur at and if u wanna go down the surfboard path.

The sculps flew well too, if that helps too.Under rated kite imo. An 11m and 136 board or 12m and 133 should do the trick.

Suggest doing ur lessons with cedric as well and drive that 2hours for every single sess mate.Give it a couple seaspns before trying that dam hey

Welcome to the sport

Yeah i thought it was interesting too. Weighed myself this morning 78kg. will test a few different boards and sizes before i make my purchase.
i ride a 131 at cable and a 136 behind boat so i guess if i had the money for three kites straight up it might not matter but as i am runnning a 10.5m kite only at the moment i worry if i will find myself not getting many days on the water until i can afford another couple of kites.

If you've only got the one 10.5 kite then go a bit bigger on the board ,136 x 42-43 would prob be a better fit to start.

Width is important because it adds more surface area for planing... think about it - 1cm in width on that board is 133x1... 133cm2. Compare with 1cm in length being on 41x1.

Demo boards, if you can - they all feel very different.

Bigger is better for beginnners. Better wind range, easier to water start and plane.
