Just got some boots and thought I might ask for a couple of tips. Naturally going to a nice safe spot that is shallow. Any advice to make the first ride more enjoyable would be much appreciated.

Not so sure shallow water is safer.

Riding with boots is so much more enjoyable, just do it and have fun. Only tips I have is make sure they are set up right with your stance, and bend your knees when you wipe out, that way the board is tucked up behind your bum and wont pull so much.

Do you recommend riding with the same stance in boots as you would if you were riding straps?

Its a good starting point, but spend some time playing around with what suits you best.
You can get away with riding slightly wider. A wide stance can give you more leverage for popping hard, but will put more strain on your hips. If they are too duck toe'd this can also help with balance but will put extra strain on your knees when landing hard.
Play around with what is most comfortable. Some say they should be shoulder width apart, but everybody is different.

I like the peace and quiet over my way. less people to get in way.
I havent seen much of your Neo's surf side out our way for a while (on either beach).
I might venture down south, but got a great spot for ya. nice waves, clean break.

Season looks promissing, and some good long down winders are to be had.
