slingshot worn lines???

with my slingshot lines, the line below the bar the main line has started to wear and the protective rope covering around the main line has worn out??? is this replaceable? $$$? is it a problem? what can i do to fix it?

It is replaceable and easy to do your self. I changed mine out a little while back, didn't take long at all. I fed the new one through as I was pulling the old one out to make sure I didn't mess/mix anything up. No Dramas at all. Ask your local Kite shop for the part, I think mine came with a new piece of black elastic that wraps around your quick release as well

oh really? nice one.... was worried there for a min. thought my lines were up shi t creek...

I was out just then down Mordy way.... Was going prob 400-500m in and out on the way in the f*cking thing snapped!!!!! Is this a common problem with the slingshot kites????????

Most signs of any wear are the signal for that bit to be replaced ASAP - In flying we replace bits because they have reached their 'time' in hours - often with no signs of wear or fatigue !

A mainline that is showing the likes of your picture is a ticking time bomb - as NVS said not expensive to replace and not hard to do - so whats the excuse for a long swim or a serious sea rescue?? - Just dont risk it - replace any suspect items especially main power straps or flying lines!! just my 2cw!

Replaced it with some 6mm static rope from my climbing kit, bit more solid.
Watch out for the screws, some of mine broke off inside and I had to drill them out.
Might want to check the other lines as well..

just got thezu to fix my lines up for us... $30 for a new chicken loop rope. not too bad.. was expecting it to be quite a bit
