Hi,
my names Trot and i'm 50. it's advice i'm looking for.
Have been sea kayaking for 10 yrs and wave skiing for 20yrs, Buggying
on my PL buggy with a flex foil 2.4 for 3 yrs. Just for some background.
I want to try wave skiing with a canopy/Kite. I'm 178cm high and 110 kg
Would any one have any idear what size canopy i should be looking at.
I'm looking in the used gear sections but all i see is kites and colour. I've been told i need kite from 5m to 10m the bigger the better. Thing is I don't want to kill myself first time out.
Also lessions for begginers are only done and Safety bay or pinneroo i've been told, So don't believe most of the ADs you see. is this correct? I live in freo.
Final question which are the better kitesurf shops?
Thanks for any advice

I wouldnt have a clue how a kite performs with a wave ski but I assume it would be similar to a board.
You have been ill informed on a 5 to 10m kite. With your weight I think a 10m to 13m would probably be more in place. A 5m will not do anything for you unless there is HUGE wind. Keep in mind that you can depower these kites so if you think there is too much wind for your kitesize just depower it and you will already come a long way! However be advised that most people get 2 or more different sized kites to cover most of the windrange. I weigh 92kg and have a 7m which I barely use, a 9m which is my main kite and a 12m for the lighter wind days.
I have no idea where they would teach kiting on a waveski but I know they teach Kiteboarding in heaps of spots in Perth.
To name a few:
Safety Bay
Scarborough
Melville Waters (Applecross)
Point Water, Attadale dog beach (on easterlies)
Woodmans point
Some good shops with IMO fantastic service:
Kite addiction - Myaree
AKS kiteboarding- Scarborough
SOS kitesurfing - Freo
WA Surf - Safety Bay
(forgive me if I've missed some)
There is also a good range of schools around in Perth.
I've had lessons both with SOS kitesurfing and WA Surf and I did a clinic with Kitesurf warehouse and all were great experiences. I'm sure most of the other schools in Perth would be good anyways.
Have fun and Welcome to the great world of Kiting!

Hi gang,
Thanks Akwa.
lessions im looking for are the intro lessons
to Ks to get me started with a canopy. I'm thinking of having
lessons with either K addictions myaree , SOS freo or the safety bay crew.
