Hey guys and girls,

I was wondering why there are so many 7m kites for sale, im starting out and looking at getting my own gear. Im 83kg's and have been told for WA I should be getting a quiver with an 8m, 10m and 12m by my instructor if i wanted to be able to go out almost all the time...

Im looking and looking for second hand kites and there are tons of 7m kites for grabs. Is this because everyone in this sport only weigh less than 75kg or is 7m perfect for Perth's conditions.

Also I have been learning on a 142cm twin tip I have found it easy to get up and riding but should I be looking for something a little smaller to buy? The same goes for boards that are for sale there all around the 135cm mark, whats the go?

I'm 82kg and have a 7 and 10m north rebel. I use my 7 most of the time and love it. Works for me from 20 through to 35 knots. Hope this helps!

I found this pdf that i thought would help. But kind of confused me more and would suggest that a 7m, 10m and 13m would see me best through the surfable wind range with a little overlap in wind rage.

Hey patchy if you looking for a new kite I have 1 for sale.... bought the kite and does not suite my riding style as I fly C- shaped kites mostly and it is a hybrid but is good for a beginner... fly's like a dream .... RRD - obssession 9m wind range is good... if interested contact me via this site

And 8m;10m;12; are in the same catogry as a 7m;9m;13m and I fly the odd numbers and am the same weight if not heavier than u

So is the general rule that your fairly well ciccerelos fly off or evens? Or is that just a personal preference. Eg (7m, 9m 11m or 13m) (8m, 10m, 12m)

is your obsession listed on buy and sell ?

And obsession is hardly a beginners kite . Vision yes but obsession is pretty grunty and can be unforgiving .

So as a beginner should I be staying clear of C kites, I was considering a naish torch. A mate said I should be fine other reports on the net say there not for a beginner.

It all just gets too hard, starting to see why so many just go to a shop.

Everybody for there own. - don't get me wrong
you fly the kite in the wind range it is designed for, yes it is grunty but that is because it is a medium aspect ratio kite, which RRD make most of there kites only there C-shape kite is a high aspect ratio. It spills the wind very well to the religion or vision... I recomend any body that wants to kite RRD to rather look into the absession only...

7m is a popular size for surfboard riders.

If you are starting out, get a four line bridled kite which is easy to use.

2 kite quiver could be 8 and 12 perhaps? Or get a 10 and add other kite(s) later as needed.

Wouldn't one be better off getting a better kite say a hybrid or C kite as long as it had a good de-power as a beginner? As apposed to the general "beginner kite" that I guess if it's a beginner kite you would out grow it and
sell it on once you have mastered the basics
