Iv been trying to throw a back mobe for so long now it's not funny. I can get the full rotation but can't seam to catch the bar. I watch the progressive app on mobes every day but I just can't seam to get it. Any advice on how people landed there first mobe would be appreciated.

I've landed a few back to wrappeds but no mobes. I find I complete the rotation when I let go off the bar, think the bar stalls me out.

From all accounts push your backroll heaps far back with your pop so you're almost flipping toward your kite, get to toe early and lock it in. Hang on until you no longer can and roll onto the bar with the other hand. Like in said though good in theory!

Yeh im the same. I can do back to wrapped (sometimes) but i havent even thaught about an air pass yet. I recon the biggest thing after you can do the rotation would be keeping the bar as close to your hip as possible. But yeh i still cant do it.

Yeh i think I need the bar to be a little close to my hip but catching the bar is tricky. I'll ether do the full rotation and and drop the bar or I'll not get the rotation and catch an edge and get a super back slap on the water. Iv already blown up 2 sets of bindings trying to get this mobe!

I recon it would be one of those tricks tgat is hard every time too. I mean its not gonna be a trick that once you land it you can do it every time. Bs313 is like that. I thaught i had it. I landed 3 of them but iv lost it again. Hahaga.

Better not be, Once I get it I want to be throwing and landing them everywhere lol. I no what you mean. Iv landed a few blind judge's just there is no consistently what so ever. I blame where I live, I'm the only one going down the freestyle path, i have no one to watch and learn from!

Quick tips:

1. Don't try to pass too early - the trick is about the rotation not the pass
2. Both hands should still be on the bar as you get to toeside
3. Edge further upwind than you think you should
3. Don't try to pass in the air until you can land it wrapped. I got stuck on them for years before I went back to basics now I barely ever miss them
4. Don't throw the hand you're passing to in a massive sweeping motion as you rotate. As soon as you let go of the bar glue it to your opposite hip

How powered up are you through this. I find that If I'm less powered the kite stayes in the one spot BUT struggle to get the full rotation. And if I'm really powered I get full rotation but my heavy back hand pulls the kite to 12, maybe the problem is in my initial pop?

Got these tips before i landed my first few ones...
- kite as low as possible
- edge as far upwind as you can before releasing your pop (this should still be pretty fast, just release a lot further upwind than usual as this pulls you into your backroll)
- Speed...
These combined will pretty much pull you through most of the rotation leaving you to focus on the bar.
Notice how long Drury holds his edge for, his kite position and speed.

In that clip it's around 23 knots on an 11m. Back mobe is a trick I can pretty much do in any condition on any size kite (unlike some other tricks). If you're super lit you can use the longer edge to wash some power and if you're under powered edge faster through the trick if that makes sense. Always pull hard on your bottom hand!

Holy Jesus. If I went out in 23 knots with my 11 I'll get my arms ripped off.
Some really good advice here. Thanks Tristan and dury. I'll be trying this as soon as i get some bloody wind!

Had the best sesh yesterday. Im so much closer to getting the bar. I actually touched it a few times! Turns out I wasn't edging hard enough, and I got my kite heaps lower.
Thanks for all the help guys!

Hey guys I'm working my way up to mobes at the moment, Iv got the back roll to topside down pat while hooked and now I'm getting the hang of unhooking but every time I pop to throw the back roll to toeside I send the kite the other way and we'll it ends in pain. So basically how do I keep the kite where it should be ? Cheers Nick

As dury said be heavy with the other hand. I'm not sure if this is a good thing to do but when I started I put my heavy hand in the middle so the lines were between my fingers. It worked but I just learnt to be a more heavy with the opposite side!

Yea I tried that the other day but I think I also tried keeping the kite really low at the same time and found that the water rushed up to meet me much earlier than it was supposed to haha ill just keep trying and changing my hand positions Iv been close, and it should take long to figure it out ! Perhaps keeping the kite high right until I'm ready to unhook then move it down so there's time to get it done before it wants to change direction. Cheers
