Do wakeboard bindings fit kiteboarding? I've got ronix One closed toe boots on my wakeboard wondering if I could transfer them?

How would I know this before buying a new board? Or second hand board?

What board do you want? most new boards will fit bindings, but with bindings you will be able to land heavier and faster and this will break some boards that cant take it.

I'm in the transition phase of moving from straps to Boots as well.
Im upgrading to a Cabrinha Xcaliber with the Ronix Frank Boots.
But i'm concerned about whether the xcaliber has enough rocker and whether my weight of 95kg, that i might require a larger board then the 139 im buying.

I've also read that some wakeboard bindings dont last as long with the salt water.
I know that North also has a Frank boot not sure if their is any difference between the Ronix and the North versions.
I find the Ronix Frank is far cooler though with the all yellow design.

I bought some LiquidForce Transit boots cheap and it might just be me, but it seems that they lean forwards (which i assume is for being able to edge toe side while wakeboarding) but it sometimes makes edging uncomfortable because i usually like to have my legs perpendicular to the board...

is this just me or is this the main difference between wakeboarding and kiteboarding boots?

Hi JayG
I used the Transits a few years ago, they are not a bad binding. The laces and lace loops are the week point I found.
The binding should lean forward slightly and this will help give the correct stance. Your back leg should be bent slightly, so this will help with the slight angle. Your front leg should be straighter, and as the boots are angled towards the toes, this should help engage the rail more. When you go toe side, bend both knees slightly more, so that it feels as though your weight is over your knees and the boots are just supporting you.
The transits are a fairly stiff boot, (which I prefer) and this may be why edging feels uncomfortable to you, but they will get more flexible as they age.
The only difference between a wakeboard boot and a kiteboarding boot is the people they are marketed at. I think the transit was actually marked at kiteboarding at some stage.
Hope this helps

i ride a cab custom with ronix ones they fit. after talking to the wake guys a bit the only reall querys about wherever they will or wont be compatible came down to if they were using imperial or metric screws now it seems both schools are all aboard to M6 city so your safe as houses. people are saying great things about the Tona Pop board and i believe there a little cheaper so if i was buying a new wakestyle kiteboard thats probably whatd id be picking up.

There is a difference between wakeboard boots and boots made specifically for kiteboarding. Liquid Force does a range of kite specific boots for kiteboarding. Yes they are modelled off their wake brothers but they come with completely different outer material, a easier lace up system designed for one handed lace up, they have attached loops for added ease of getting in and out etc and they have more drainage. The reason they have made these changes is to add a better wear factor as kiters usually ride for longer periods than wakeboarders, the boot is in salt water and the obvious handling of a kite whilst getting in and out of boots is made easier with the lacing and loop additions. This is the link which shows the 2013 rang of kite boots the new website will be up shortly with all the new 2014 product... liquidforcekites.com

Many people have chosen LF boots for kiting but use the wakeboard specific binding, and yes on face value they look the same as the kite specific boot but they are designed for wakeboarding which as mentioned riders generally don't go out and ride for hours at a time and most wakeboarders ride in fresh or a mix of salt and fresh etc. These boots do not last as well for kiters and they can get water logged after long sessions as they do not have the same drainage profile as the kite specific boots.

Cheers, Chris
