I am wanting to get an idea on a safe wind range for my kite. I am 77kg and ride a 2010 11m Octane. I have had it out in up to 20knots but dont know how far to push it before i drop in kite size. Also riding in flat water. Hope someone can give advice. Thanks.

Without knowing the Octane specifically (but i am the same weight as you) i'd say you'd have another 7-8 knots left in it. If you've got a smaller kite i'd be putting the 11m Octane down at about 25kn.
I use my 15m Fuel up to 18-20kn.
I use my 12m Torch up to ~25-28kn.
I use my 8m Alliance up to... umm, well ~37kn so far - i'm yet to find it's limit.

here is a simple rule of thumb... take your kite out... (being ready to pull QR in case of emergency)... if you have trouble keeping edge and gusts make you speed up without full and total control - then get smaller kite.

Rode 11m all week end 20 to 30 knots. held edge good and had de power to spare. Thanks for the help.
