Hey Beachie,
I think the 6m would way too small for you down the track.
Right now you may think you need something that small but I reckon you wont need to go any smaller than a 7m.
While your learning you shouldn't be going out in winds over 20 knots, so hold off for awhile.
When you get up on your new board you will understand how much power you need to get going. I reckon the 6 will be too small even on those real windy days.

Think you might be right Ian,
have spoken to a few more ppl about it and even tho the EVO is pretty grunty, they all seem to think a 7 would be the go. Gets frustrating when there's too much wind for my 9 (not taking it out over 25kn currently) lately its either too much wind or none!

I have a 08 9m Evo and have tried the 08 7m. The 7m seemed a very different beastie, only three struts and not very grunty although that may have been due to the trim on the rear lines. I got the impression that it was more designed for kite schools. I haven't seen the 09 6m yet but I'd expect it's a significant improvement on the 08 7m. I'd also agree that 08 9m is too powerful for riding in 25 knots.

A modern 6m will get you going in not that much wind especially if you're on a surfboard and you're not that heavy. I can get a 6m Eclipse Nano/Kima going quite easily on a surfboard in 20 knots.

I got the missus the 08 7m evo and it's a nice little kite, her everyday one and my high wind one, and no it was never planned like that

Pretty stable, easy relaunch, good safety and quite grunty

Out the box, you need to adjust the rear lines to get it to fly decently (shorten them where they attach at the bar). Before I knew about this I had it out in 30+ knots (Kitestock on Friday afternoon) and was struggling to get any power out of it. I made the changes the next day and it worked a treat!

It's a green one, so might not fly as well as the pink one...
