First impression, totally redesigned kite, Delta style, twister tech leading edge, one pump. I initially kited the pre production kites alongside the Best designer, 4-6' waves cross onshore at Guincho in Portugal. The kite felt solid, plenty of power and nice and quick to turn. Any issues with backstall that bow style kites had has gone. Much like the Kahoona you can let this kite drift downwind until its just about touching the water and still be in control. Unhooked performance was excellent. I am not great at freestyle F16s about my limit but this kite certainly has great potential for freestyle. Power wise I am 75kg and was powered up on the 9m on a surfboard in 16knots, 7m at around 20-22, holding the 7m comfortably to low 30's. Add around 3 knots for me to be comfortable and easy upwind on a twin tip. Freeriding was fantastic, bar pressure felt similar to the 09 waroo, my wife and son both loved these, my wife (beginner/intermediate) has been riding the kahoona, but prefers the performance of the new Waroo. For me the wavesailing performance is what its all about, I can't stand a kite backstalling on a wave, this will not. Last week in Mauritius we had some good solid swell, so the kites got a real workout, needless to say living in W.A the 2010 Waroo is now my kite of choice. Any questions drop me a line
He was here at Guincho for a few days. Always riding a kite one size smaller than the rest. The kites looked impressive in the air in terms os response, stability and speed. I thought it was another design because they didn't look similar to the waroo (they looked closer to the nxg). Now i understand.

Hi, was in Guincho early July, not on red Kahoona, but we did have a red prototype Waroo, fantastic beach and a great local group of kiters from the ones I met, and we were lucky to have some waves, there were a couple of us with Peter the designer.

did you try an 11m at all ? Unhooked in waves ? Big boosts? Hang time? low end grunt same or less than 09 11m ?
Sorry for the delay in reply, I got out on the 09 11m waroo yesterday to compare. The 2010 has a better bottom end for sure, by how much is very hard to say at least 4 knots maybe more for my weight 75kg. Jumping is as good, the twister tech is no gimick, having kited with this construction back to back with the same kites (prototypes) for the past 2 years without there is a remarkable difference, it tends to "soften" up the turning input, and certainly increases the turning speed (power loops on the 2010 waroo are easy, a little off putting on the Kahoona). Delta shapes are very good unhooked, no issues with any backstall. I do not know your weight, but for me my quiver this year for waves will be 5/7/9 waroo, and most likely an 11.5 kahoona, that is because it will be a very light wind kite from around 12 knots, the kahoona lends itself very well to this as it is such a light kite, if you are heavier and in stronger winds then I would have no hesitation recommending the Waroo.
What bar are you riding it with? The 2009 best or the redline? Does anyone know anything about whether a 2010 bar is coming with it? will it really be much of a difference anyway? worth holding out for?
How would you rate the 11m size wise against earlier years waroo's?
ie. My 11metre 2007 waroo is what i'm changing from (and perfect size for what i ride in usually).. will a 2010 11m be about the same power wise? or am i now likely to be overpowered with the 2010 11m in the same conditions and should be looking for a smaller size of the 2010?
The 2010 Waroo has better bottom end, because of the twister tech and the change in shape mainly. Compared to your 2007, you will find the big advantage being the stability, and constant power delivery, and the construction method is first class. I would stick with the 11mtr, there would be no benefit to go smaller.
The bar hasnt changed design at all, they have just modified some aspects to rigging, being the removal of the land loops on the front lines (these loops created premature line wear) and new style lines.
A new bar will be available for 2011 gear but at this stage they have a good thing and didnt need to change.

11m2010 had a great sesh.72 kgs, wind started off about 14knots got up to about 25 More power than 09 for sure,more of a booster like the older nemis good hang time I was pretty over powered over 20 knots, I tried an 11 octane back to back in the same wind the waroo was so much more powerful about 30 to 40 % more,no joke.The octane was way faster at turning but with no power,Waroo was more park an ride but is still happy being chucked around,I think it is a touch slower at looping maybe,I think the 9 would be pretty darn nice.....I will try in the waves tomorro

We got our demo Waroo 11M today. Pumped it up and checked it out, yeah it does look a lot like last years nemi HP? The twister tech schizmos have all been sewn into the centre section of the kite this year, and you can visibly see them working when the kite is held flat on the ground and tip is lifted/twisted, very impressive. I did not think they did that much when they were placed more towards the tips. Winds coming up I'm going to take it out on the water.
did a downwinder today in some decent wind on the 11 Its a boosting machine,had a blast,It drifted nice when going at it flat out,the swell was pretty small so only small kickers but still big air nice power carves, relaunch is really easy,I like that in the waves ! One pump is simple and gets me out on the water nice an fast,bar pressure is pretty much the same as last year light but you know where the kite is without looking. Build quality looks tough as.
Rigging -set up, its all new design & one pump , simple bridle set up , real easy to pump & rig , used a 55cm bar on AB setting
: On the first run I was shocked, this kite has mind blowing grunt for a 11m in light - mod wind . : real smooth power delivery in gusty 10-20kts great depower with short throw . light bar pressure but solid feel . : when the kite is parked wake style moves work unreal this is where the kite worked best for me , it has amazing lift when I popped, & its rock solid stable. : boosts higher than any waroo before. : upwind ability has improved and easy to keep your momentum / fast board speed going throw lulls while trying to ride upwind in gusty conditions. : fun to fly its a great all round kite, give them a go!
