Has anyone had a chance to demo the Best 2010 Waroo? I weigh about 76-77kg and looking at having only one kite. Mainly kiting out of pinnaroo and trigg 17-25knots range. Is the 9mtr the right choice for me.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Hey stuc,

The 9mtr waroo would prob be the better size, but can also depend what style of riding you intend to use it for. I am 100kg and the absolute bottom end for the 7 for me is approx 22knots. This kite has great bottom end. I feel the range of the 9mtr for you would be from 15-30knots, and the 7mtr would be 18-35knts. If you ride a surf board, than maybe the 7mtr would be the correct choice. The smaller the faster.

Both the 7 and 9 are the sweet sizes in the range, they have great stability and turn quick. The 11 and 13 are a little slower than expected. There are some key tuning tips being discovered for these larger sizes, and there is mention of a bridle mod considered to help enhance its potential. overall they are a bomb proof kite that relaunches quick, has great lift and now comes in a one pump option. Check in with your local Best dealers, Choice Kitesurfing in Perth and Gspot Extreme sports in Geraldton. It would be best to try and demo the kite before you make your choice on size.

All the best with it.

Has the new Waroo been aimed at the beginners market?

The Waroo is not aimed at beginners, but the nature of the kite basically suits a huge range of riders, and allows for quick and easy progression.

The new delta shape is where the main difference lies this year, and some people havent liked the change. In response to this, Best will be releasing a new kite over the next month or 2, that will mimic the same type of performance, but better as the traditional SLE Waroo.

its a all new design ,smooth power delivery , shorter depower throw, and did I say low down grunt! the 9m would be insane!

Tried the 9 and the 7, 2010 waroo recently. To be honest I found the 9 a bit slow after 2 seasons with the 08 and 09 nemes. However, had the chance to compare the 7m waroo with a 2009 7m nemesis and I gotta say I was impressed. I am just over 6ft 2in and bend the scales at 100kgs. In 25knots I could only just maintain upwind with the nemesis, but had no trouble with the waroo. The little beast is lightning fast and super grunty. Flying them is very different and unlike the nemesis it enjoyed being sheeted in. I only use kites for surfing(too old for tricks), but would definitely rate the 7m waroo as a weappon of chioce in high winds and big swell. No back stall, effortless relauch and very quick.
Hopin the tax man is kind to me this year....
