Mine arrived last Friday, the day of our race series and I was too busy to test them, so I let sum2868 have a go, all I can say is they boost huge and seem to have great wind range and quick turning. Sum2868 was getting serious air, I'd estimate most of his jumps were in the 30 - 40+ foot high range, with great hang time and glide. The kite moves very quickly for an 11M the winds were a solid 25+ knots from the NE with an opposing/assisting tide.

Now I wanted a better light wind kite to suit local conditions here and Matt Taggart had told me that the 15M Edge takes that place easily for lighter riders.
I rode the 15M Edge tonight, between 5.45 and 7.30 in winds ranging from 9-15 knots according to the Sydney airport wind meter.

I had grave doubts about this board and it has sat in the shop for around 6 weeks, having fun poked at it, well I'm happy to say that I'm badly mistaken, this is a serious light wind weapon.
I had no trouble at all during my whole session in literally flying upwind, and was easily able to kite out into the middle of Botany Bay (which gives you a nice downwind kite looping buffer if the wind drops). I was able to small transition jumps which was the best and most efficient way to turn that massive board with its huge 65cm fins.
The board is a massive calf workout, even as I sit here typing 90 mins later they are pumped and tight, hopefully a bit of stretching will sort them out for tomorrow (winds light and on again for sure)!

The kite is my new all time favourite light wind kite, and can't wait to try it in a bit more wind simply because it turns like a lot of 11/12m kites and I think it will boost to the moon with massive glide time. The way the kite turns/downturns and underturns, it will easily kite loop! The big difference this year is the Edge has 5 struts and this has definitely transformed the kite, along with other tweaks to the canopy. The kite is amazingly lively and reactive, same as I noticed on the 11M flown on friday by sum2868.

The thing that blew me away was towards the end of the session, I could see and feel that the wind was dropping, so I headed for home, still easily planing and going upwind. When I got to the beach I kicked the board off and then struggled to keep the kite in the air and eventually after hanging on the left side for a bit it just fell out of the sky onto the beach. This not a symptom of instability, it was just that on the beach there was virtually no wind it had to be less than 6/7 knots. First time I've experienced the ability of an efficient kite to make power from apparent wind in almost un kiteable conditions.
I have to say I had a lot of fun and got my fix on a day when literally no-one else got more than 10M off the beach!

And yeah I sell them.

First thing you notice is the very wide stance it has in the sky it realy spreads out.

It doesnt have the bottom end but nor do you want it to I think.
Once you get it cranking it really goes up wind very very very well. Did I mention it goes upwind well. Its also very very quick upwind. I could go into the physics of why I think that it does it but ill leave that to AKS.

The kite can pivot turn pretty well but onto the main part why you want to buy this kite.

When you pull a jump and begin to fly you do actually have to let the bar out to come back down. This thing has major glide time. Im sure a few others out today agreed with me.

Kick arse kite.

no worries, grab it on the way through from the shop if you like, then it will be down the beach for the demo day on Sunday. Or use it at Scabs and drop back into the shop before closing if thats better for you.

Did somebody say stupid stupid big air?

I rode the 9m and 11m edges today and Even the worst edging produced jumps of 5seconds. If you locked it in well you'd be up there for 7-8 seconds

Darren the guys from the local shop were jumping about half the height of the strings and covering almost 50m before touching the water again.

It was maybe 20knots and this kite had everyone jumping like it was 30+

I finally had a go on it yesterday. Thanks Kitepower for the demo.

I had the 9m out, and wind was probably between 18-25 knots. (not sure if someone else at Dolls yesterday can verify this). Hard to tell on a kite I was unfamiliar with.

What I found about this kite.

Speed, height and hang time are the main features of this kite.

Jumping.
Just insane. It was quite hard to edge because of the amount of chop, this didnt matter, just the action of sending the kite put you up among the birds. Plenty of time in the air to direct the kite to where you want.
I cannot imagine a kite could be better for boost or hangtime.

Very powerful.
Much more powerful than my 9m edge2 2008. I never felt overpowered. But at times I suddenly found myself going really really fast, and needed to edge and push out the bar to slowdown.
Handles the gust just as well as my 5line edge.

Superior upwind performance.
Just as Steve said. I was amazed at the upwind angle I was able to achieve on this kite.

I think that although its a very easy kite to handle, is very responsive, light on the bar, very direct feeling on the bar, it is a kite that is probably more suited for a intermediate / expert rider. Not that a beginner could not fly it - just that it can get pretty scary at times.

I loved the new pump up system. Easy to pump and fully inflated in less than a minute.

I'm delighted to have finally found a replacement for my Edge2 2008's. I was wondering if a 4 line kite could replace the 5 line kite. Looks like it can.

I'm not sure how the edge would handle in waves, so will demo a c4 to compare.

As I am 90kg, and live in Sydney NBeaches, where wind is not that great Im thinking a a 13m Edge and a 10m c4 combo might work nicely for me.
What do you think ?

Seriously can't wait for mine to arrive ......Big Mark I have had the 13m edge and a C4 11m for the last 2 seasons. This season I am going back to a 13m and an 11m edge. Agree with Darren they are both seriously good kites but they do behave completely differently. I like the old school big air stuff recently I have had my 13m edge out in winds up to 30knots and the boost and hang time has been huge really enjoyable sessions, Kite loop transtions down loops all good fun in these sorts of winds and i have really got used to (and really like)the turning circle of the edge. The 11m C4 has a much narrower range and can be rediculously powerful or underpowered outside the range. I have had some massive boosts and good hang time on the C4 as well. where you notice the big difference is in looping the kite. I decided it is not for me and now am hanging out for my new edges!!!!!!!! Spend a bit of time on the C4 demo before committing to a C4. I loved mine for a year but now would much sooner ride an edge. I am 100kg at the moment and ride 142 styx when its light and a 132 TB whens its cranking.

Writing from Canada, still in the snow and ice here. Always been a North Rebel guy (although I started with an Ozone sport). Intermediate for life I picked the sport at 40 and will not start twisting like a pretzel anytime soon.

Some of you know North pretty well, I have 2 twelves that I like a Fuse and a C4. I would like to complete my quiver with either edges 15 and 9 if I go thenozone way or Rebels 14 and 9 if I go the north way. How doesnthe Rebel and Edge compare when it comes to versatility and fun factor? I am 87 kg sailing in ****ty conditions, gusty, 6,7 gusting to 25 is a reality here. No waves but chop for sure. Going upwind is a must since we have trees and concrete walls to clear. I like the smoothness of the Zephyr so i think the edge 15 could give me that feeling but I likenthenfact that the rebel pulls you upwind even slow... Thanksnfor any insight.
