I've tried the Contra 17 today for the first time. Just had a bit of fun on the beach with almost no wind. Here are some photos...

Why the negative vibes? At least there out there having some fun.

Posts like these are far more interesting than the usual slime posted on here.

And also, I think phillip's street cred has increased.

Hey Mud Duck,

Vibes aint negetive, the post is great, just in the wrong place. If it is OK for this thread, and this type of kite/manufacturer, then it opens the floodgates to all other riders/pimps to start raving on about their gear, this then becomes too much "advertising" in a non advertising space.

Again, it's a good review and Moritz has gone to a lot of trouble, but it isn't in the right place. I know Moritz personally and he is a good guy with only the right intention, but it is pimping and this is supposed to be non commercial.

Otherwise I could give discounted lessons in exchange for a big rave on the Seabreeze but that wouldn't be right.

Just keepin it real,

Good winds,

Fair enough, i dont want to agrue for the sake of it, i just cant see why we should hide good stuff in the gear review section when there is so much junk posted on here... :)

WTF guys who are whinging that Moritz cannot post some info about his new kite that he just purchased from Kitepower???

Get real, he is a user, he wants to let people know about a new kite he bought, his post should stay right here.

Some of the posters on this forum are incredibly negative, nat talking about you Kitehard, but I'm at a loss to understand your logic here either?

You know Moritz, you know he loves kites and kiting and likes to get the latest kites, why shouldn't he be able to post about them here. He has not written a review anyway, he just flew it on the beach at Dolls in incredibly light wind, wind I would struggle to fly a special lightweight sport kite in, it was amazing.

Moritz is not an importer, he is not a shop owner, he is an astute businessman who has worked hard and done well, he can afford to indulge himself in a few toys. He is a retail customer at Kitepower.
Kitepower is a seabreeze sponsor, what is the problem?

Keep the forum nice stop the stupid bitching guys! If you don't like a thread hit the back button and read something else, no one is forcing you to read anything, get real!!!!!

Cya and

Goodwinds

Steve McCormack

PS - Moritz rode the kite on the water today, I hope he writes some thoughts about his experience.

Sorry guys, but I don't get this. I thought this forum was about kite surfing and that gear reviews are part of our sport. So if someone like myself can't write a review about a kite I just tested without being called a pimp who can???

1. I have always ridden what I like (I had Naish, Slingshot, Wipika, North, Flexifoil, Best and now Cabrinha). Currently Cabrinha is what I like best.

2. I always test new gear to see if there is something I like better than what I currently have. Some of you may say I'm full of **** for spending so much money on kiteboarding. Well, I work hard and kite boarding is what I look forward to. So let me do what I want with my money, and I won't tell you what should do with yours.

3. I have put quite a bit of time into those reviews and tried to be as objective as I can.

4. I have only compared the Contra to other Cabrinha kites. Unlike some of you guys, I haven't made other kites from other brands look bad in those comparisons

5. I have never at any point (again, unlike quite a few here) made claims that the Contra is the best kite ever, the highest jumping kite, the best hang time, the best wind range, etc.

People complain about any reviews:

Magazines: Complaint - They can't write anything bad about gear because they are affraid to lose the advertiser. Conlusion = No good. You guys will complain

Team Rider: Complaint - Team riders have to write good things about their brand. Otherwise they will lose their team rider deal. Conclusion = No good. You guys will complain

Shop Owner: Complaint - The shop owner has a financial interest. Conclusion = No good. You guys complain

Hmmm.... Conclusion = Let's not make any reviews, because you guys (the ones that complain) only like reading reveiws about your own brand and only if it's good. My conclusion = Stupid and No good.

So if you're not interested in a review don't read it. No one forces you to do so. But there are quite a few people thinking about what to buy and there are far too many choices to demo. Personally I would hope to see more reviews on Seabreeze so I know what I want to test next.

I can only summarize these reactions as poor form.

well said and great reviews
these forums always seem to be hijacked by the lowest common denominators, I thought Mr Darwin might have sorted them out by now

i'm not sure what all the fuss is about, the review is in the review section!? where should it be? Also moritz has been able to personally test many different types and brands of kite and boards for that matter, so his opinion is well informed.(in my opinion)
Also , how is it pimping if he is not being paid? i always thought that the pimp got paid, or he chased you away with a gun.it could be that he is a new age sensitive pimp, i'm not sure.
anyway i think the review was good and i would be pleased to see more in the future

I have a contra 19.5, which I bought when i worked in a country with minimum wind - Xclent light wind kite and very forgiving. I also have a 17 slingshot which tends to jellyfish when the wind dies - the contra, with the cross strings doesn't.
