Beginner/intermediate, 65kg.
I kite Safety bay. Am looking for a kite that will get me out in around 14-18kn. So thinking 12 or 14 rpm.
Is 14rpm going to be a suitable light wind kite? Or will 12 do? I find rpm have narrow sweet spot in wind range. Looking for comments from the rpm crew...

Straps only mate, out in the chop in a monk 130. As for power... I like to be in control rather than being controlled

if all your kite same year sell the 7 and buy a 12. i dont believe ANYONE should have a lei kite bigger then 13m especially someone thats 65k

At 65kg a 130 shinn monk is spot on for size, check their website.

At 70kg I went the 132 and my 85kg mate can ride it no worries. However, the monk really like to be powered up and isn't very good as a light wind board. It can be a little unforgiving, but when you get it right it just keeps on giving.

A bigger board will definitely be better in light winds. My light wind option is a 15m and a 165 light wave board, good from around 9kts to 15kts in these fickle SE Qld winds, but pretty much just mowing the lawn on those days.

A second, bigger, board is probably a cheaper option too, there are plenty to choose from in the buy/sell section. I'd be looking around the 138 to 142 range.
And try a to get a demo ride to see what you like.

Finally, 10m to 14m is too big a gap in sizes, if you have to, go the 12m.

I probably see you out there regularly. Had 2015 RPM 9 and 12 and 2014 14m. 70kg boots, 136. The 14 did not give me a lot more power but of course some. For pure wakestyle not too bad. Was a 27m line bar though. So bigger board or line extensions could be your cheaper options ;-)

Nice and flat with not much rocker. Keeps me going in all kinds of winds
I'm 70 kgs
The board option is half the cost and will last you for years, then you can sell to a travelling euro who will happily pay you $300 for it

Yep the RPMs were snapped up quickly. Good kites. Just a few little things I did not like. The journey continues. Just bought an Enduro today, for boosting and looping as of 20 knots. GTS3 10m for a bit of everything including raileys, s bend attempts etc. And the Nugget and 12 Reo for those 12-15 knot days for some soul cruising when hardly anyone else is out. May get a foil and this would on a 12 open up the 7-12 knot range but then I am afraid there will be no time left for work/family . Tough life. See you out there, nothing wrong with that spot you are using.

PS. My personal opinion is that 12m is a compromise, more suited for trying some tricks rather than boosting (unless you are 100kg and you have to use a big kite), so I try and avoid that. Anything above 12 is used out of desperation, so here in Perth we don't really need it. Jumping on a sb is more fun in light winds. Others, e.g. wakestylists love a slow/non moving 14/15m truck as it pulls like a cable and nothing else. So depends on what your needs are, as usual...

Finally. Someone with a brain.

Not everyone has to kite inside the pond. There's a big bank of shallow flat water just outside! And it actually doubles the size of the inside.

"OMG, I never knew!? I usually just tack back and forth constantly. Transitioning as soon as I get to each trick section. Straight back into oncoming riders loading up for a trick. They tend to look at me a bit annoyed but I have no idea why. Peace and love everyone!".

Inside pond seems to be reserved for kooks, rude euros, grass mowers, learners, mates teaching mates, instructors and kite schools nowadays

Don't send them just outside the pond on the weed bank mate. They will annoy those who still know how to ride and go big (just smart enough to avoid the pond but not due to lack of skills ). It is too shallow to stuff up so they may get hurt. And, and I am seeing this every third day or so, they get their lines tangled around the boat channel markers. Better if you go upwind to the other ocean side where there usually is heaps of space, or to Shoalwater. Chop will improve your riding. If you stay in flat water all the time you will never learn how to ride properly. And if the lawn is mowed often enough out there it may as well become flat eventually

Ok, got a 12m. Now just need a light wind day (15kn) to give it a whirl on my whip... Damn strong seabreezes in Perth
