Just picked up a 2012 North Race Ltd for cheap. went out today 10-12knts on a 2012 11m Cab drifter!!!! awesome fun.

For anyone who wants a light wind machine, there are some absolute bargains on race boards atm. You don't need race kites to enjoy them. I used to have the whole race kit thing but got rid of it all about 18 months ago... couldn't resist a bargain. . far out its fun, fully lit with next to no whitecaps on a wave kite hahahaha. awesome. if anything I think it might be more fun on the mid aspect kite than the race ones.....

The only other people out were people in the river mouth using the run out to help and on big (17m) kites..

What is cheap - aren't they like $1000+ for something second hand ? And then you have to buy fins ! Puts me off a bit for something to mess about on.

Exactly!!
It doesn't matter what board, what fins or what condition. Get one for the right price that works for you and get out there on the biggest kite you own, you'll have a ball! The learning curve will bring back that stoke you had when you first started, every session you just progress SO much.

Yeah that is pretty sweet. I was out this afternoon at Trigg from 2-3, was pretty light, Ocean Reef was 8-10knots so I guess Trigg was below that. I barely held ground on that Shinnster Puppet has (160x46) and I reckon the Raceboard was the next move. Is the WA racing scene picking up ? Is that why these boards are available ?

good to see some interest. i hope as race boards become more affordable we will see groups "social" racing in the ocean like the old days on windsurf slalom kit... that wasso much fun.. tailwalking race boards in ocean swells with 6.5's up.... arrrrr... oooops showing my age :)

hey mate,big difference especially in low winds. Raceboards perform a lot better in general. You got lot more volume in the race boards and u can actually ride them on the fins which you can on a sector.

When the wind dies off enough for my 7m to be manageable on a 132cm twintip this will definitely be worth a thought!
