This review follows my review on 5ft 2 Skater. Same info applies to construction, materials and finish.
I have now tried the 4ft 8 on 3 occasions. First day was about 19-22 knots, with 9m cab drifter. Next 2 days was with 7m drifter so probably in range of 22-26 knots. So I was really looking for a board that could handle the upper end of wind 22knots up.
This board does the job, it loves being lit. Goes upwind great and holds it line on the wave. It has good grip and one can run up to the lip with confidence that you won't slide out. It compliments the 5ft 2 nicely and together they give a great quiver for most conditions. Not sure about really big waves but have not had opportunity to test in such conditions.
I have not tried the other modern surf shape boards, but love the small size of both of these boards and will not be going back to normal size surfboards.
