Yeah I got the 2009 Mako 150 x 40 and the 2008 150 x 34. Both are very smooth to ride in chop due to the big concave. Carving turns is what they excel in as well.
The skinny Mako:
- Great top end, can hold down a lot of power.
- Good for boosting. Works different thought, no load and pop but carving upwing.
- Flying upwind.
- Equal footbalance, less tiring to ride.

The Mako wide:
- A bit lighter relative to size, relativeley less concave, good for lighter wind, but not a light wind board.
- A tad smoother, different rail outline.
- Better toeside performance, overall better allround board.
- Good upwind but not as good as the skinny.
- Not as good for boosting as the skinny.. overall more cruisy, less "radical". Even though, I rarely get overtaken on this board if that means anything ;)

So personally I prefer the 08 Mako skinny, which they don't make anymore. But overall the Makos are great allround boards, carvy, smooth in the chop, just not meant for wakestyle if that's your goal.
If you check kiteforum.com you will find lots more reviews.

Cheers

I've got the 140 wide also. Love the board, it's so smooth in the chop and the foot pads are the most comfortable I've had.
It takes a little getting used to, quite loose but charges upwind. I find it great for the choppy conditions here in Perth.
I've got my FLX for the flat water but the 140 is a good all round size for the ocean.

I have just received my new MAKO 150 x 40 and it is fantastic for what I want to do.

I love riding in the surf and in rough water but have never wanted to go down the surfboard route (tried it but much prefer the flexibility of a twin tip).

The trouble has been finding a twin tip that can "surf" the wave.

The Mako does the job and is super comfortable to ride and easily clears big whitewater. Wave riding is great.

Has anyone tried the Mako King in the mutant setup
Specifically carving in waves, riding toeside and upwind ability
