[admin] disclosure: switch "team rider"

just tried out my new kite at leighton beach today and absolutely loved it the kite i have EVERY TRIED. its not a particularly fast kite but it is good because when you are trying handle passes you/i want my kite to stay in the same position and it does. it is also very loop-able. but in saying all this, this is not a beginners kite and it is not a kite for gusty conditions. it can be quite brutal if you don't know how to handle it.

the wing tip battens and great as it keeps the kite really stable when riding.

the bar is awesome. really grippy, solid feel, and the chicken loop is the perfect size for hooked and unhooked tricks because you you can hooked out or in really easily because the loop is so big.

last of all the bag. it is like a coffin bag some people use to travel only you cant put your boards in but you can fit 3 kits and 2 bars in it and your harness and probably more if you tried.

thats pretty much it but seriously really awesome kite and would recommend it to advanced riders or ambitious intermediates wanting a stable kite for waves or flat water freestyle/wakestyle performance.

cheers nate

Were you the guy who struggled to get past the waves, kept slamming the kite into the ground and generally giving us a good laugh.

At the risk of getting it wrong, I'll have a crack at it...

I have seen the targeted adds on Facebook for Switch, the ones where they encourage peeps to become a team rider and get discounted gear in return for pimping...
I guess this is the result....

Hey Nate, you probably should have disclosed you are are Switch team rider. As part of that you have to constantly pimp the kites to get your 25% discount. You should have also disclosed to the Switch people that you didn't pass year 8 English!

Looks like switch (team?) riders are also encouraged to slander other brands going off some other switch riders posts in this forum. Just search for lotowind posts or read some reviews like gk trix 12m review. Was lotowind a team rider?

If you have a switch kite shops may not want to help you because your brand is not supporting any Aussie businesses.. And if you have a bladder or quality problem you may not get help from local shops or local support because you might not be liked by local business.

Any brand that encourages slander of other brands and pimping and supports no Aussie businesses. Me not like....

I don't know why people does that, that must be a misunderstanding somewhere. It's not helping anyone to do it. It's true that switch encourage to mention switch kites in forums and message boards but slagging other brands is just stupid.

I reply to threads when someone have a question and can give general indications how the kites behave. I don't believe in detailed kite reviews since it's so personal, what suits me might not suit someone else. But I can give the characteristics about how the kite flies and what is the closest comparable brand I flew.

And of course let people give my kite a try if they want to.

What kind of shop would refuse to service a certain brand? Do stores usually ask for the receipt to make sure that a kite is bought locally? None of my kites was bought in Oz and I had no problems to get them repaired while living there.

As I said, no one have been encouraged to do that. And it's sad to see it happend.

If you have some examples of this we would be interested in seeing them as this is certainly not condoned...or is this an example of you living up to your name?

Just a wild guess and sorry if you have nothing to do with Switch Kite Company..

switchkites if you hold any weight at all in the company and read this post please move to drop this "self appraisal" market flood approach. It worked at the start and your name is well and truly 'out there' with a team rider kicking it in the pkra..

But now this gimmick is working to permanently tarnish your brand. Switch is a bit of a joke atm in the local scene not only on the forums as this post has shown but on the beaches aswell.

your kites actual performance in the hands of independent reviewers and the general public need to do to the talking now!

i dont think im alone in this belief and speak in the best interest of your company as i actually like some of your kites and the appreciate the package and the value.

meh anyway my 2c..

disclosure: i am the general public....

You should stop reading (and replying) to posts about switch kites then mate, because unfortunately there are none and the ones that aren't obligated to pimp the kite they got cheap under a clause don't have any credibility left to voice an unbiased opinion, hence my concern in my original post.

Single out switch? This topic is about the combat switch... Or was I ment to throw in a pun about bws or the rebel in true seabreeze fashion? Yes people rave about the new kite they just bought regardless of the brand name or market strategy but the thing is they don't have to.. I infact think they are intitled to and encourage them to considering the market price of a lot of these kites, appraisal or sceptisicm.

I think the combat looks like a great kite and would love to try one, own one on the other hand.. Hmmmmm

Yeah. switch marketing obviously has to accept this kind of rage. Not supporting the local dealer or supporting the forums they expect their team members to pimp on.

I think its a short term solution.

But i guess their will allways be punters keen to buy cheap kites online.

Not much insight in this thread. Flamers of course do not need to declare their affiliations. Some people are maybe feeling a little threatened by the low prices? There doesn't seem to be too much negative comment about the kites themselves. I agree though that now they are out on local beaches; Switch can now let the kites do the talking rather than individuals on kite forums.

My disclaimer: I know the owners, Switch is wholly owned by New Zealanders. I also think the Combat is a pretty good C kite.

The bar looks like a new north bar, Why am i paying more than twice the price of a switch for a North???????

Is this the same as the BWS kite being a rev in disquise?

Switch=North?

difference is you bought and own a north rebel because of their reputation and im sure you have no regrets. Its not a gamble going out and buying one based on somebody's appraisal, unlike switch.. :/

had a go on 11m combat. really slow turning and very heavy bar pressure got quite annoying real quick. will give credit where it's due did have good pop and float unhooked, which is what it's aimed at. just limited in waves range , launch , depower, looping and resale market. good for wakestyle riders on tight budget but theres def better c's out there
