Better start with joining AKSA and getting a few lessons. Next is where do you kite and your local conditions? so you can get the most out of your gear as with only 2 grand thats a one kite quiver!!

But all that aside around a 2004-05, 12-14m around 150cm board as you are just starting out. But dont spend all your doe on kite and board think about safety equipment as well and one of the better ones for noobs is the Slingshot Surefire Spreader Bar .... Helmet and Impact vest, buy that first and get the rest with what you have left!!

Forget about what kite to buy until you have some lessons are are at the stage of getting up on board and going a few metres.

this is the time that you will have an understanding of what winds you like and how much power you need.
Also your instructor will be in a position to offer some advise at this point.

prior to this stage it is all speculation.

Also by that stage you will be in the kiter loop and maybe privy to some good deals on gear floating around.
