Suitable yes, but it depends on where you kite?

It ain't a "cheap" kite, but a good one, especially for the ocean and when you are learning a 7m is cool....and dad will want to use it when it's really windy

If you have surfed before, then you will only need a 7m for a long time as you can get a sufboard and a twin tip. Once you get to 65 kgs. you may desire a 9m or a 12m. Get Dad in to it, and the world is your oyster.

Just be sure to have lessons from someone up there about safety proceedures and learn the rules (Darren Marshall can do this well)....because at beaches, you must yield to everyone....these kites can be leathal weapons....good luck.

At 50 kgs, I suggest getting a 5 m Switchbade 2 as a first kite. This is beacuse i dont think Xbow's come in a size smaller than 7 m.

Will be better to learn on and will suit more and more as the winds get stronger over summer. Then think about a 7 and/or 9 (Xbow or Switchblade) although I subscribe to having the same kite's for safety reasons.

If budget is an issue, you will be able to find lots of 2nd hand generation 1 Xbows's and switchbade's on this forum or go see Reg/Dan at Windsurfing Perth.

At 50 kgs you should definately have a 5m (be it Cabrinha or not) in your quiver and it is always best to learn on the smallest kite.

i have tried last years 5m switchblade and had a lot of trouble to get going in a 10-15knot breeze. do u happen to know if the new one has better power in the lower wide ranges.

Stick with a 7M CB2, the new SB2 comes in even number sizes, so you would have to choosea 4M or a 6M, this years 6M is only slighttly gruntier than last years, but the CB2 is easier to fly with a better wind range for a 50kg rider in your WA conditions.
Caroline has just come back from Cabarete? I think I know her she is a good teacher.
Contact me for a good price if you want, I have them in stock.

Dawn Patrol,

Leighton isn't so good for learning. The wind is gusty as it comes over the port, there's lots of beach goers and some dogs love kites too much!

If you can safely control your kite on land and in the water, Leighton is ok, but still gusty as!

Woodies, is excellent, especially the onshore/No 1 beach.

Other great spot is safety bay.

Pinnaroo, 1 km north of Hillary's. Good kite school there too, with IKO instructors.

there is no such a beginner board. i learnt with North Jaime pro (recommended for advance riders by North) and got on board easily. producers r saying "our boards are for advance only" because they wanna put their board into high standard.

(sorry about my english)
