Got to demo the torch 06 last week, I must say it is a big improvement on the 05, which also was not a bad kite at all.For starters the 06 especially in the bigger sizes turns alot faster than the 05, the shift system I would have to say is one of the best five line set ups I have seen. The 06 definitely jumps alot higher and the hangtime is alot better than the 05.
Their is not as much bar pressure, also and with the bevelled edges on the bar where the chicken loop rope runs through makes for much smoother turning.Kite behaves itself very well , basically goes where you want it to go, and has reasonable depower when those gusts hit you.Kitelooping with this kite is not hard work at all as it does not pull as hard as other kites and almost spins on its axis.Goes upwind relatively good and it also sits a little closer to the edge of the window than the 05 does.
All in all a very good kite worth trying out, I think naish have finally got it right.

turns like a prick.
bout time they got their act together.
x-2 ruled.
these look schmick.
good effort from naish who have probably been complacent and riding on the sows back for a few years.

I would have to agree with you oxy.Tried the 06 yesterday and this kite certainly rocks.Although I would have to say it turns alot, alot faster than the 05.With the 05 the 10 and the 8 were the best by far, now I would have to say that all sizes rock.
Well Done Naish

Yep Yep, all 06 Naish kites rock.
Didnt really mesh with last years Torch but this year it is awesome. Still a loop machine but can now jump and is generally a much better kite to fly.
Ravens jump even higher than last year and turn faster.

Feedback is great.
Thinking of buying Torch 2006.
Tried a 2005 Torch and found it fun but sluggish - isn't this good for wake-style? - lots of stability.
Rode a friends Slingshot Fuel and found it slow (but stable etc).
I ride high aspect and want to try the wake style tricks. Currently getting massacared with kiteloop attempts etc. Just downloops (say off a front-roll) sends me down-wind at warp speed.
Just wanna have fun, try all the tricks and not get killed.
Will the torch be my best choice?
Considered Slingshot and Vegas.
Advice appreciated (unless you're TM)

Everyone I have spoken to has basically said the 06 torch is a jem kite.It has improved a great deal from the 05.If you are attempting kite loops the torch kiteloops very well and it does not pull your arms off in the process, as alot of other kites will.
The 05 kitelooped very well, naish really did not have to improve this on the 06, but what has improved is its upwind abilities, hangtime for jumping, and also in the bigger sizes the kites turn alot faster.
All I can say is demo both of them and see what you prefer, also you may want to demo the 06 rhino and the 06 raven, both great kites.
North and Naish have a great selection of kites to choose from their 06 range.

Thanks - have organised a demo Torch 06.
Crew rave about slingshots - are they significantly better in anyone's opinion?

Go for the torch I have ridden both kites, the boxer is a good all round kite that basically does everything okay.
But the 06 torch does everything really well, turns alot faster than the boxer jumps higher and certainly kite loops quicker and goes where you want it to.
I can tell you Naish have designed some bad kites over the years with the V4 and the X3 but the 06 range is execellent.
