Hi All,

Just a quick note at 7.25 am Wednesday 7th Jan ABC 891 had the guy in charge of compliance with Transport SA on the radio.

Part of the interview concered Kiters NOT wearing PFD's and that they were out to crack down on this over the summer. The fine is $160.00.

I am aware this has been covered already in another thread. Just informing everyone that it has been brought up again in the media.

Thanks

What a crock of ****e.... it is about time the authorities worried about real crime- like robberies and stuff instead of this petty rule enforcement against law abiding citizens just trying to enjoy themselves.

Welcome to the most over regulated state in the world.

A PFD wont save you if you are knocked unconscious and if you aren't unconscious then you can look after yourself.

Thanks very much for the heads up Hobie. Looks like we are well and truly on their radar now. May pay to keep one floating around in the back of the car.
Once again, thanks for the heads up.

Any lawyers out there that know what their (Council? Marine and harbours?) rights are to ask for proof of identity? What if we are not carrying ID? I don't carry my drivers licence if I ride down my local.

Ask Ben Howell. He apparently knows a lot of lawyers, businessmen, business owners and residents of Henley Beach! Not to mention politicians, football legends, council people....Is there anyone he doesn't know?

Oh, and he can apparently fix kites as well... Or send them off to Moti Levy for you just in case you're not capable!!

Still waiting to hear when the PKRA is coming to Adelaide as well!!

Back to topic....

When are they going to crack down on surfers for not wearing PFDs? I'm sure if you got hit with a surf board on the head it would hurt like hell. Plus they don't need public liabililty. Take SUPs for example.... they use pretty big boards. If one of those hit a child swimming the sh!t would hit the fan.

I know some riders around the world that have been in more trouble when wearing a PFD than when not. With lines getting caught in buckles or between PFD and harness.

I think it should be a personal preference, if you want to wear one or not. The only persons life you are risking is your own. If you were wearing one and got taken by a big fish, it would save you.

Its a crock of SH!T if you ask me.

Over it!!!!!!!

Just A bit more info. I was away on holiday's and just got back.

The guy from the department also gave out a number so people could dob in or complain about people doing the wrong thing. So be aware wingers love winging about everything. Thats why they have talk back.

I have started wearing my sailing PFD I also wear a rash vest over the top to prevent anything getting caught.

If your interested try sailing PFD's these are made shorter so they don't get caught in the harness bar.

Thanks
