My thinking for this "Still learning Fossil" is that the wind on Sunday would be well strong enough for my 12m switchy but Saturday's 25 - 30+ kts would over power me.

Before anyone lands a HTFU on me.....remember, EVERYONE was a learner at some point. (Some, like me, just take longer )

Also the flatter water at Parham would better suit my progression. the waves predicted for the Metro surrounds won't help this learner

Any other learners that are at a similar stage, building their skills, may want to try this area.

Compared to the metro beaches there are way less kiters to get bothered by me while I am learning. (There are still a few very experienced kiters who frequent this area that were happy to pass on a few tips to me)

Parham is a similar distance north (from the centre of Adelaide) as Milang is South.
Main North / Pt. Wakefield Rd. is probably a straighter, simpler drive.

Parham turn off is around 1 km north of Dublin. (easy to find on Google maps).

Keep at it Fossil- it is worth it when you get up and riding, everyone will hoot and holler and then buy you gargleblasters !!!!!!

Seriously though mate- keep at it, get out there early and use the whole day to keep trying- eventually it will click. It took me almost 2 years to be up and riding and it was worth all the effort !

Have to make the trip down sometime

I managed to get up on the board about 3 weeks ago at Largs.
A short ride, but even managed to edge the board, thought it was great, felt excellent.......hit a wave with the front of the board.....and made the fatal mistake of looking down to see what happened......not so excellent.

I have been trying to replicate the action ever since. Sort of like most other challenges in life....that one great shot makes you want to chase the feeling again.

Gargleblasters...mmmmmm.......think I might settle for a few beers at the Parham sports club........ yes I know, I know, HTFU

Sunday afternoon saw 8 kiters on the water at Parham.

Had plenty of positive interest from the locals some of who "saw the kites from their kitchen window" and became curious.

The three long term kiters from the Barossa were the experienced crew, performing speed & swapping to tricks & twintips as the tide came in.

The remaining five were all learning and seemed to enjoy the day, even the seaweed soup at the end of the day (higher than normal tide up the beach).

This fossil acheved a short run, albiet longer than ever before, which was the intent for the day. Lots of splash 'n' crash for me....physically tired after less than an hour!! minor damage to me & my board (busted fin)....onward & upward.

thanks to the Genetrix boys for the tech tips on how to improve the next outing.....so close to a decent run downwind

good work fossil, next time we want to see you out there for more than an hour!, we had a fairly decent sesh, 8.30am till about 3. feeling a bit rooted myself!.
for the wake boys, and freestylers, parham is at its best at a .5m low tide and up to about 1m, on a SW you just cruise out the channel and you have kilometers of glassy smooth water, anywhere from a foot of water to half a meter with a nice layer of mud after that.
ill see you guys out there next time.!
