Well done to Terry Langford for his work with AKSA and his appointment to national AKSA VP. You have worked tirelessly for SAKSA and AKSA and we are lucky to have you in that position.

The latest email from AKSA details the new committee and also insurance payouts over the last few years.... which include
WA 2007 - Third party hit in head by kite bar being operated by an AKSA member - $30,000 paid
NSW 2009 - Third party property damaged after AKSA member lofted into vehicle (AKSA member was seriously injured but is recovering well from all reports) - $12,000 paid
QLD 2008 - Surfing third party seriously injured during collision with AKSA member – $95,000 paid
WA 2008 - Swimming third party injured during collision with AKSA member – $77,000 paid

Accidents happen and that's why we've got insurance. Unfortunately these claims have also resulted in a significant spike in our premiums. I reckon it's still a good deal but seeing the premiums creep up is another reason for vigilance on the beach and water. We are always on about beach access, now we can add 'wallet access' as incentive for doing the right thing.

Congrats again Terry, you put in a heap of work getting the new national structure sorted.

D

PS - every time 'beach access/etiquette' is mentioned in a post it results in another round of 'flaming'... can we give it a miss this time round.

Thanks Rodley. Its not just me, there are some really hard workers behind the scenes on the AKSA committee, it would not happen without them. they don't have to do it, but they do because they care.

Its really nice to see some good words about AKSA :)

Thanks again and please everyone "kite safe"

Terry
