How good are they. You can do what you want. Race away looping and sending your kite left and right or cruise out on a broadreach at speed.
The places you find along the way. The sights that change.
Now to go back to the places of delight newly discovered.

Totally agree. I've done dozens of downwinders along the Adelaide coastline, and no two were the same. Different tides, chop, swell, wind, temperature all make each one unique.

We also need a new term for when you kite right around an island, like Troubridge last week... any ideas? Roundwinder?

Around Troubridge? was that by yourself? How did you get there?
Call it what you like but "awsome" would be good enough for me.
Would like that one myself.

Just wandering what is the longest downwinders people have done. Mine was a solo 25km run.

So how long did it take you to go downwind 25 Kms? And did you hold ground for a while along any part?

Not to sure to be honest Chaps. I was out for about 2 hrs. Found some very suprising smooth water and hung around for a few runs. Then there was an area that was smooth with nice lumps to carve off. At the end of the run the family waved me in from the shack so I stayed out for a while and hammed it up for the crowd on the couch.

A dozen of us went to Troubridge for a long weekend before Xmas. Had the island to ourselves for 4 days of kiting and SUPing. It was awesome.
