My biggest concern is ill zoom out to sea and not get back to shore, im sure once I have been shown how to control the kite it will be less scary,
Tino,...."pugtastic" Julie has all of the contacts for the schools from a previous thread.
Julie.... As Tino says "
DO THE LESSONS FIRST"
safety instruction is a major part of your first lesson, including self rescue!
Listen, ask, watch carefully, find a "kite buddy", join your local association (SAKSA), ask the local crew at the beach, talk to the kite shops (Onboard & the Kite shop).

So how long does it normally take to pick up?
I'm sure there are people that were able to ride within days of first instruction.
Fom what I have heard discussed, (and experienced) it is proportional to spending
time on the water practising & refining what you have been taught/shown.
There are some people that drag around for years, crashing & splashing till they can ride........I know someone like that

The learning will never cease, there is always something else to challenge you.
Welcome to the "alternate addiction".
