Sorry if this topic has been done and dusted already.......

I was at Wallaroo last week and the marine safety guys come over and offer me a $300 fine or the chance to go to the nearest boat shop and pick myself up a PFD (class 1, 2 or 3.) Naturally i abused them and told them that was crap etc etc.
here's what they showed me. The only specific mention of kite surfing in the whole damn book!!!

www.sa.gov.au/topics/driving-and-transport

Checkout page 5 of this.

How many of you knew this and how many of you will/already do comply??

Also, there is a 4kt water speed limit upto 200m on the whole of north beach except between the Fence and the southern shacks. So basically you can only hammer it where there aren't any shacks.

P.S. i now own one and reluctantly wore it on Friday.

How do we make it mandatory that all government workers must wear an orange vest with bold type "I'm a knob in a government department"
at least then we can see them coming

I was told that all water users must wear a PFD, until I see a surfer wearing one I'm happy to take my chances....

Yep, i know about it, and tino is right, it applies to all water user. Even clubbies on paddle boards and surfers, i know it sucks. For the guys who do not wear them, its a chance they take. The decision is up to the rider on whether to wear one or not. Interesting to know that we are back on their radar. May be a good idea to keep one very close by when kiting for the next few weeks. Thanks for the heads up.
