Has anyone ever Kited in the Coorong?
Any advice if so?
What are the best places for it, best wind conditions etc.
Obviously if it blows off the dunes it won't be much chop. Not sure how wide/deep it is down there as havn't been in years and years.
Got a 4.75m tinny, gonna launch at Mundoo and go across to camp in the coorong. Probably won't be much wind this wknd but can always wake instead.
Any advice would be awesome!
CHeers!

I haven't kitesurfed in the Coorong but I have wakeboarded (last Easter) and it was absolutely fantastic. We put in at Mundoo and day camped in the vicinity of -35.56524,138.90561. Once you get through the shallow Mundoo Channel it is plenty deep.

Thanks heaps!! I spoke to the park ranger today and he said it would be unlikely to be deep enough for wakeboarding, so was a bit worried.
Cheers!!

We have had a few days down there. The River mouth is best. End of Hindmarsh Island.
keep clear of the dredge, and no problems. Flat water inside, waves outside.
Every other spot, the dues are to high and create big wind shadows.

lake George (beachport) is part of the coorong... sortof. and provides epic conditions.
we are heading that way next weekend

The mouth is an awesome spot but its closed to all craft at the moment.
(although the sign is hard to see - you have to drive down the boat ramp!)

Apparently it will open around October for the summer.

There was a large group of seals just inside the mouth last time I kited there.

Nice!
We had a good weekend, Tried the kite briefly from where we were camping but it was a bit offshore/light, and as you said above way too gusty, probably could have had a crack in the mouth but just waked and ski'd instead.
I'm a bit of an ameteur and I dunno if I'd want to take on the mouth with the ripping current that goes through there, I think there's a good chance my board would be lost at sea haha
plus, seals means sharks don't they?

Also, tried para-kiting behind the boat, massive failure :(

I don't think the mouth is deep enough on the island side to get sharks.... but I havn't been there in a while, has anyone been recently?

haha a1,

lake geirge is deffinetly not even nearly part of the coorong

I have kited all the cooring on the south easter side, on teh high way where u drive to robe, great spot in antyhignother than easterlies really.

anyway A1, i have also kited lake george since o was about 13, great spot went home the other day and the lake is nearly full , we have lnad right on the eadge and can be accesed by a public road whihc is opposite the woakwine cutting road, great flat water riding.
Also the spit is also a good location for really butter smooth riding in southerlys, if u can be bother driving out there. also the surf beach at beachpoirt is a good spot and u can get some nice little waves there, id head out to box jelly fish witch is where u can acces the main bach form the road (where u trun off to robe from beacport)
and if ur game head out the back beaches! massive waves!!!!

I've kited the Mouth a few times and never seen anything other than seals. On the Hindmarsh Island side there is a sand bar that gets pretty shallow but super flat. Sick riding. I go a few times in the summer as it gets more wind than metro beaches
