Hey all kitesurfers near adelaide.....

Im planning a 6 month holliday in Australia.
I have some family in Adelaide, so i think that will be the location, if the kite conditions is top dollar.
But is this the right place for a kitesurfer, that prefere flatwater spots?? And dont like sharks

so... my question is:
when do you have wind season???
Are there flatwater spots near adelaide??
and how far from adelaide down town??? Maybee i need a camper

are there any detailed spot maps on the web ???

Are there any local web forums? maybee i could hook up whith som other kiters!

I hope you can help me planning my trip by answer some of my questions.

bring some danish pastry - i like

is aldinga a desirable place to live - seems to tick the boxes and we will be moving to the city august before hopefully purchasing around xmas

ur house prices are like sweet and i want a sweet house near a sweet kite beach so i dont need to worry about a sweet job as i will have some sweet danish pastry to chew over

house sold logistical worries underway but shes aving it were going

- help me !

Summer is the best time - November to March. Sea breezes over 15 knot most days.

There are sharks here that will EAT you - stay above the water.

You have your choice of flat water or small waves, and within 1 hour drive is a fresh water lake if you like flat water and no sharks.

Local beaches are 20 minutes from the city, the surf is 1 hour away.

if you eat enough, you cant stay above the water,,,, Does sharks like pastry

Sounds good with the flat water spots, and the short distance.

I will be back with more anoing questions

Hi Danish Kiter,

I am also from a Danish background and live in Semaphore, Adelaide - which seems to be one of the most popular kitesurfing spots. I only just started so can't help you much with most of the questions. Semaphore is only 14 k's from the CBD though!
I don't think any kiters has been eaten or biten by sharks...yet. They might have a taste for Danish pastry though - but I doubt it cause I have been ocean swimming every week over the summer season.

When do you arrive in Adelaide?

plenty of photos and if you check kitebeaches.com (I have it linked) you will see the spots.

Agreed the best time is Summer to you would want to be here NOV - APRIL, however if you can't be here then and it must include another time try to avoid Autumn, being April May as (not this is when the wind is more likely to hit the duldrums.

All the locals will be after pastry and some will be after your women, so look out, as for sharks, well we like to scare howlies about that, so you will be fed some stories

Which lake is the one Mick14 is talking about? - Is it suitable for beginners? No upwind kiting necessary!

I assume Mick is referring to Boggy Lake which is up near Langhorne Creek. You really do need to know how to stay upwind to ride at Boggy. You also need to look out for obstacles like star droppers and cow troughs !!!

Boggy lake at the top of lake alexandrina

awsome spot, cross over the south side and get into the reed lagoon, pure flat water, I mean pure flat oil slick.

look out for cow pats
