Im coming all the way from Queens Land, to explore the West Coast of SA.
Going to Whyalla, Coffin Bay and Ceduna.... over Christmas.

Any advice on some "sick" Kite spots would be Rad !

I have herd it can be a bit isolated down there !

I've been there a few times, and during summer, would have to be one of the most consistent spots in Sth Auz. Out the front of the caravan park is good flat water kiting, but if you want waves, drive to the bay between Pt Lowly and the Santos Jetty. Here's a couple of links to give you an idea of what it's like. The locals are pretty friendly, too, and hate a beer!!

Whyalla main beach, great crew, tons of wind, flat water, good stop over

Bro the best spot is coffin bay for flat water, you have to go to long beach coffin bay, when you drive into coffin bay you go right through and head out towards the entrance of coffin bay national park, if you go to the park entrance you have gone too far, go back about 400m and you will see a car park and the entry onto the beach, park there, or 4wd onto the beach, don't go onto the low water level sand or you will get bogged. For Lords sake dont get confused and kite in the little bay of coffins itself or you will be flogged by swirling wind and get run over by a Cray Boat

you will see an island called goat isld, when the tide comes in it is flat shallow water out to a deep channel, seabreeze is lighter than upper Eyre Peninsula but is still okay, if you have a southerly to southwesterly pattern it will crank, SE and E and anthing with N in it is off shore and totally out of control.

as you travel up north from Coffin Bay the sea breeze will get stronger and stronger, Try convention beach for hammering massive swell and ripping sea breeze, it will either be a beach from paradise or rocks, depends what winter did to it. It is a dirt and rock road and then track, you can get through with a 2wd but it is quite heavy on the car. When you get a sniff of the ocean you go right and down don't keep going south and left, thats all cliffs

Keep going and go to Sheringa, on the south bay where the bombies are, don't kite throught the surfers on the western side of this headland or you will likely get into serious trouble with the locals, contrary to Port Lincoln and Coffin bay area, those who surf here are deadly serious about their surf break.

Streaky to smoky has some flat water and nuclear sea breezes, 6 and 7m wind, waves are heavy line ups that are not made for kitesurfing. If there is no swell go to Haleys beach at Streaky bay and if it is flat everywhere it will be 2-3ft there and the beach is good for kitesurfing, if there is swell it will be 6foot to whatever you can imagine.

Have fun and take care, and never go through any surf line up with surfers on it if you value your life,... seriously
