Just read in Whyalla news that the work on removing sand from the sandbar and other areas will leave a channel. Anyone know if this will be of a benefit to us. I know that the removal of the sandbar is .
On another point it looks like another winter right hand point session is in store.

Sand carting south of Semaphore left some fairly large channels in the inter-tidal zone, but they were entirely gone within a couple of weeks. Building structures like marinas has a far bigger impact on beach morphology than a bit of digging.

Waxman I think the 100's of people down there tonight might disagree with you. I have never seen so many down there could have been schoolies on the "Goldy".
Never sure what this council is up too but at this stage it appears that they have left the sanbar alone and collected enough sand out of the corner. Biggest problem I see now is the sand drift once the seabreezes start. The car will cop a sandblasting.

Seaweed no probs yet! Was not too happy to have the car covered in sand when I had my kite today and it only blew over 20knots for a short time.
1 good thing is they have not touched the sandbar. Had a great time out there next to it today. Was thinking all this extra sand on the beach may make it's way to the bar
The beach does look good from the water but that will be the only place you will want too be when it's windy.
Had too dodge the diggers on the beach and bring the kite down on the new northern grass area which is quite nice. Not the best idea I know .

One more high tide and all that sand should be all but gone. Only trouble will be the big rocks that will be left scattering the beach. If it does not wash away it certainly is blowing away and being taken home in your car.
