hey mate, the place we kite out there is called false bay, and its not too bad for razor fish, there are a few but just keep am eye out. I am sure there are a few places to camp along there, just watch the tide if you chose camp on the beach... We kite there fairly regulary so just let us know if you guys are headin there and we will get a crew together and head out for a side and some crews.

The beach you saw us at is called False Bay. Excellent on all tides, best sailed in a SW wind as this is straight onshore, SE sucks. Not many nasties, just one section of shallow reef to watch out for, everywhere else is sand. The waves can get up to 6 foot on the face after a few windy days in the gulf which makes for a nice change from the flat water of the Whyalla Foreshore. As the tide goes out long narrow channels of mirror finish flat water appear amongst the sand and make fantastic speed runs.
There is an official camp ground just up the road at Point Lowly which has all the necessary facilities or it only takes 15min to get back to Whyalla.
False Bay is normally only kited on the weekends as during the week it is much easier to just head to the foreshore for a session.
PM me your contact details and I will let you know when we are planning the next session. I'm sure we could round up some drinking partners.
Cheers

What about the point? Used to be so much fun and well worth the drive after work.

As far as I know nobody has ever kited the point, and I think we only windsurfed there once after you left Whyalla. Might be time to check it out when this heat wave disappears!

Beware the rocks, the rip out the back, the jety and any other hazards.Launching from Pound Bay would be a good option.Love to have a go myself nothing like the glow of the Lighthouse to illuminate the late session after work.Nothing like a heatwave in Whyalla, hope there are no dodge tides during this or there will be another fish die off and the water will become as warm as p--s.
Enjoy EB.
ps.25 days till D day.
