hey guys, went to the milang demo day on sunday, wind was fairly poxy but got to see a few of the different kites and boards in action. i was fairly impressed with the slingshot rev and the genetrix kites, which seemed to stay up wind in the light on conditions.
does anyone know where i can get hold of a genetrix kite? i kind of like the idea of no pullys but still the de-power ability. thanks

Try the Doc at southcentralkiteboarders.com I reckon he had one, or maybe catch one of the other guys flying them down at North Haven. Good luck.

PS did you go up Sat or Sun ? Sat was gusty but there was plenty of wind and fun....

PPS Upwind ability has alot to do with rider weight and technique- I have been caught downwind many days when a mate on the same kite has been holding ground cos he is a better rider...

The reason the Rev and the euro kites where staying up wind, was that they where 14mtr kites, while everyone else was on 12m. Not bad for 12-15knots

Saturday was the day, over 35 kites on the water and every thing from 7mtr to 14mtr..

23 kites in the kite race that murf (no 1 kiter) was so close to be beaten by some nobody.. Only 1 mtr in it, but this nobody had him twice at the outer marker..

Murf you might have to watch your back, they might be some one to able to beat you one day..

There were two 12m Genetrix kites out and up wind as well at the same time. I was using one on a 122 FLX

You did get some extra help at one of the markers but!!! Anyway with all the practise you get by "mowing the lawn" when your out riding you should be fast!!!

You wish you could look that good fella. I did not do anything to steve's board but a star dropper at Milang gave it some extra "speed holes"

Oh yes....

You just can't beat new toys & Christmas is just round the corner after all

I liked the new cabrinha kiteboards which I tried @ Milang last weekend but I'm also going to try Trav's new 09 Recoil Comp when it comes in next week

I just got one of the Cab's. Where did you hit the star dropper ? Was it near the end of the jetty ?

No... I knew about those ones.... This was only 3 mtrs off the beach, inline with the trees and just under the water.... It woke me up when the board suddenly stopped dead and I proceeded to smash into the water

hey cheers for that. i went on sunday and the wind wasnt good at all. genetrix seems to be the one to get, you mentioned genetrix that you could get hold of some other kites as well, also are they bringing out some new models, say, for wakestyle/freestyle.?
also whats the rap on the cab kites, i wasnt real impressed with the 8 pullys on the kite end, i would have thought more moving parts = more wear and tear?

Wow.... 8 pulleys...fair bit of pre flight inspection required.

I havn't had any problems with the pulley system on my new cabs, and the pre-flight inspection takes about an extra 15 seconds compared to my old C-kites. They are an awesome kite, everyone who has flown mine has comback very impressed. Regarding the up wind ability of the kites at Milang the other weekend. It had a lot to do with wind direction at the time, the wind was swinging around a huge amount, so one tack i found myself and others tacking one direction and the next minute, my tack would completely change. Boards and body position also have a lot to do with tacking upwind, as well as pulling your front lines in a small amount makes quite a bit of difference as well.
Cheers Croc

i guess it comes down to personal pref.
i would be a bit paranoid that the pullys would seize or break when your out deep, i say keep the kites efficient and simple. if there's no need for pullys then why use them.! there's plenty of kites out there with de-power and no pullys.
