hi guys,
thought i'd say hello,
i'm just starting with kite surfing... so if you see a guy being dragged down the beach, out to sea whatever, it could be me... give us a wave!. i haven't stayed upright for more than a few seconds yet (only tried a few times) but will get there.
i have had a few lessons.. so shouldn't be too much of a danger, i hope!
what are you're views on joining aksa for the 3rd party insurance? i will probably join just for piece of mind, but how many other people have it?

The aksa membership is a must when learning and needs to be kept up as no matter how experienced things can still go pearshaped. Once saksa is up and running half the money will go to the state association to promote the sport, run fun days and fund running costs, and the other half will go to aksa for insurance purposes. Send me a pm with your email address and I will add you to a bulk email list for local updates and the like.

after some advice...
i had lessons at largs, and have been there a few times since but not managed to get the timing for the weather right, so i haven't used my own gear yet.
how accurate are the charts on here? what do you use for wind forcasts? i've been told not to rely on the outer harbour reading, but use the airport one... maybe it's my luck!
what restrictions are there south of largs? anywhere i shouldn't go? i've seen people at henley, but i'm reluctant to go there at least until i get more practise. don't want to get in everyone else's way or stress anyone out.

Hi Midge
A list of Areas that are permit only are on the SAKSA site its at http://www.saksa.com.au
Becarefull as the area between fort glanville and the car park at largs sailing club, is off limits to kitesurfers.
From the carpark to North Haven is permit only and you have to be a member of SAKSA or AKFA which have the insurance that you need for the permit to be functional.
A local weather map and forecast is on the SAKSA site as well.
People also kitesurf at Henley and also the chicken shop up to fort glanville. If your learning, largs is probably your best bet as the water is shallow and less chop.
