out today. 25 - 30 knts on 9m vegas,havin a blast ,just landed a boost,straping on one side of harness let go ,complete harness ripped of my body ,bar out of hands,kite now 30m in air landing some 250m down wind on fellow kiter , kite entangled in his lines, leaving him with two kites powered up,very scary moment, so thankfull that some how no one was hurt ......

yea it was a Liquid Force Luxury waist harness,strapping on right side completly gone ,left side half torn out, very scarry when you see your kite flying towards other kiters like a parachute, nothing you can do when your safty takes off attached to your harness......

yea it is ... 2012 comp ... even more comfortable than the last one ... had it on for 6hrs today felt awesome...

Yeh i know i look over my bar and lines and kite for wear but prob dont go over harness enough. Mine is only new but if you were to keep it for a length of time then regular checks would be smart.

The last LF harness I had did the same thing.

Actually, all my prior harnesses did the same thing. The one I'm using now looks like it's about to go soon too. This one and the last one (LF was the one before last) have a secondary means of attachment, so when the primary webbing goes the kite won't.

i take it you don't like L/Force,what would be your choice...

I have started using a mystic shadow which has a second strap below the main one which gives you a little more of a chance if the main strap fails. Not to mention they are very comfortable

I was the one t bond by the runaway. I can tell you it woke me up. I had a 12 mtr out, "on the large size". Im telling you that having both kites powered up was crazy.

1st kiter to respond to my wild waving said "iv just started kiting what to i to?"

I think "crap so this is how it ends"

But you know he kept his wits about him because i had no control or safety as the lines where completely wrapped around each other and when one kite landed hard next to him he launched on top of it. he saved my kite as i had my knife in my hand ready to cut! The only thing he should of done was trigger his safety as his kite might of got involved to.

what i learnt

luckily a saw it coming at the last second which allowed me to dive of the board "still coped the leading edge in the side of the head though and the harness in the back of my head when i came up"

What i didn't consider was to release the safety when i dived as it would of been much safer.

Also keep a knife on you as the runaway kite lines wrapped around me as i dived under the water. luckily i was able to slip out of them before the kite powered up again. but a knife would of been my only option if they had stayed around my legs.


Apart from a minor pain in the neck that night no issue.
